Corey Liberman completed his undergraduate degree at UD in the Communication Department, After his days at UD (from 1997-2001), he went on to Rutgers University to earn his PhD in Communication. Congratulations Dr. Liberman!

"The Eastern Communication Association is the organization within which I have received the most collegial guidance and the most opportunities for networked connections. During annual conventions, I have met publishers, coauthors, coeditors, and friends. However, such conventions also provide the context for annual discussions about pedagogical best practices. It is at ECA conferences that I have learned from the best. Back in 1998, I took my very first course in communication (Principles of Communication Theory), taught by Past ECA President John Courtright, at the University of Delaware. I am still not 100% certain what whet my appetite, but I fell in love with the field…and with teaching. Since then, I have spent the past 15+ years developing pedagogical strategies that I hope have worked in the classroom and that have inspired as much in my students as John Courtright inspired in me over two decades ago. I spend countless hours creating and edit-ing teaching lessons, making certain that the *right* material is taught using the *right* and most effective strategies. Like any job, it takes time, patience, endurance, and commitment. However, it is something that I love to do. I am humbled and grateful to be among this year’s Distinguished Teaching Fellows…and want nothing more than to continue learning from those who have helped me develop this craft over the years. BEA Student MMJs are a team of undergraduate and graduate students with the task of reporting on and NAB Show by using and infusing a variety of story-telling methods –text, audio, video, pictures and graphics (or infographics). Student MMJs should be ready to think outside the box and bring their journalism skills and training to life.

Daily assignments will introduce Student MMJ’s to different aspects of Media, Entertainment, and Technology – to include interviews with sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, award winners or special events.

Student MMJs will receive some equipment to use onsite, press passes, have access to the NAB Show Newsroom, and work under the guidance of two faculty advisors — in addition, each student will receive a convention registration, housing, a round-trip economy airfare of up to $400 to BEA2020, and a $250 stipend for food and incidentals.

Arrival should be scheduled for early afternoon Friday, April 17th with departure on Wednesday, April 22nd.

On Friday, February 7, 2020, the Department of Communication will host a free bus trip to the epicenter of the communications industry: New York City. Meet with Blue Hen Communication alums and other industry leaders in the communications field to learn about career opportunities from media production and public relations to digital media and advertising. This opportunity is open to juniors and seniors, with priority given to communication majors. See the attached flyer for more information. Applications are due no later than December 31, 2019.

We have a small marketing team at Horn Entrepreneurship that covers student startups, our community engagement, events and alumni of the program. Our marketing team is mostly powered by interns and we are very understaffed right now in the areas of video production, web design and coding. We are hoping for two Interns, a sophomore or junior so they stay for a while. In the past, we have had great success with interns coming from your department.
We work all year long, winter break and summer too. It is a paid position and we ask for approximately 15 hours a week, adjustable to their school schedule.

About this Job:
The Exelorate Growth team is part of Exelon's Corporate Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability Department, with a focus on identifying and developing new businesses through market validation of problem-solution and business model hypotheses. These two internship positions will work with the Distributed Energy Resources (customer-owned generation) opportunity area to move several new business ideas forward through experimentation. Interns are responsible for ensuring the quality of outcomes, and are accountable for the following:
1. Understanding the theme of their opportunity area (distributed energy resources) through market sector analysis including industry and market trends, problem sizing, value chain, customers, competitors and business models
2. Experimentation and analysis to refine and prove problem-solution and business ideas:
• Identify and prioritize Key Assumptions underpinning the problem-solution hypotheses
• Design and execute experiments that can quickly, inexpensively and conclusively validate/invalidate the key assumptions
• become the expert in developing customer relationships, research plans, and programs to test and validate hypotheses through an iterative series of rigorous experiments

Minimum Specifications:

• High level of comfort navigating ambiguous and unregimented opportunities

The UD Dining Marketing Department is looking to hire for our student team, specifically for this summer to be presenters during New Student Orientation.

We are looking for energetic students who are passionate about dining at UD. The time frame is every day from June 25 - July 24, 2019, excluding July 4, 5, 11 and 15. Each day will run from 10 am - 4:30 pm with a break from ~1-2 pm. Dining presenters will inform incoming students and their families about UD's dining services through tabling & presentations. Mission Fulfillment Division Responsibilities: The primary objective of this group is to create opportunities for the public to engage in and be inspired by the humanities. Specific responsibilities include selecting and incorporating appropriate NEH or state humanities programs, developing original programming, and overseeing successful program series and yearly programs already in place that support the Delaware Humanities mission; evaluating program and program series success; developing, implementing, and evaluating re-grant programs; writing grant proposals to support both programs and re-grants; long-range planning in support of the Council’s strategic plan.

Individual Responsibilities to Your Work Group:
Assists with Programs and special events by coordinating logistics, processing all Speakers program requests, creating and printing programs/evaluations/etc., transcribing evaluations, and other duties as assigned.
Assists with Grant award management, prepares award packets, prints forms and materials, and creates and updates grant files.
Develops content for and maintains Delaware Humanities website; manages social media platforms; manages Delaware Humanities “info” e-mail account.
Manages e-mail marketing system and the organization’s supporter database; coordinates letters and mailings to donors.
Participates in development of marketing plan and annual report.
Designs basic print and online collateral, including program postcards, short publications, and event invitations and signage, that promote the Delaware Humanities, its programs, and re-grant programs and projects as communicated by supervising staff.
Assists with basic media relations, including writing press releases and statements, maintaining media lists, and collecting media mentions; identifies and establishes partnerships with constituency groups for targeted program marketing.
Acts as primary point of contact for visitors to the Delaware Humanities’ offices and for phone inquiries.
Checks and distributes mail.
Keeps office supplies organized and stocked and maintains office equipment.
Maintains contacts lists and prepares mass mailings.
Works with vendors and schedules and organizes meetings.
Coordinates communications to Council members and serves as point of contact for Council officers, committee chairs, and other Council members regarding general Council business.
Maintains organizational documents and server files.
Assists in general duties as directed.

Requirements:
Working knowledge of office equipment, such as printers and fax machines.
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail.
1-2 years of experience as an office administrative assistant or event coordinator.
Experience in graphic design (creating posters, images for social media use, etc.) not required but would be beneficial to the position.

In this position you will work under the President and Publisher to oversee the planning and promotion of our events, magazine, and organization of UDress Magazine as a whole. Becoming the Executive Publishing Assistant would mean that you are on track to become the
Publisher and then the President of this organization, as you move up each year in college.

In this position, you will have weekly meetings with the President, Publisher and Events Team - from there, communicate via email throughout the week with the various teams and continue/keep up with your tasks on your own. You will need to feel comfortable communicating with members of our organization, various offices here at UD, as well as local businesses.
