Students for the Environment (S4E) is the oldest environmental student organization on campus and dedicated to promoting awareness on the impacts UD students, faculty, and staff have on the environment.

This club provides a space for members to discuss environmental issues, explore new outdoor trails, participate in trash cleanups, and learn about interactive eco-friendly activities. You might recognize S4E from their flea markets, where they engage with the local community and help support second-hand shopping by reserving the north green for vendors to sell various crafts, clothes, and other trinkets!

OJ Morris, a senior pre-veterinary medicine major, excels in the classroom and on the field as a Division I lacrosse player. After realizing that there were programs out there that could fit his interest in veterinary science and athletics, he transferred to UD from his previous university.

“I looked at schools that had a good pre-veterinary medicine or animal science program and some sort of lacrosse,” Morris said. “But not a lot of schools have such a thing. Then, I came across UD, and everything I could find about it was so great.”

🏃‍♂️💙 💛CHS Dean Bill Farquhar crossed the finish line at the Boston Marathon this Monday!

Congratulations 👏 to University of Delaware College of Health Sciences Bill Farquhar, who checked ✅a major item off his bucket list this week -- running 🏃 the Boston Marathon!

He powered up Heartbreak Hill, soaked in the crowd energy, and crossed the finish line on Boylston Street in 3:42 — fulfilling a lifelong dream. 💙💛

"I felt great the entire time. The race has so much energy — lots of music, cheering and encouragement all along the way. I’m really glad I did it.”

Meet Katie (‘26) and Lillie (‘27) Scheivert from Leesburg, VA! Katie, a Sport Management major, hit 100+ career hits this season and is joining UD Athletics as a social media intern this fall. Lillie, a Communication major, also interns with Athletics—capturing the action behind the lens as a photographer when she’s not on the field.

Lora Cox is a senior nursing student at the University of Delaware with a minor in Global Health Studies. As a UD Bayhealth Scholar, she is completing all of her senior-year clinical rotations at Kent General Hospital in Dover and has a guaranteed nursing position in the medical-surgical unit for two years after graduation.

While she may not have extensive leadership experience, Lora thrives in team settings. She actively participates in campus research studies and collaborative study groups, which help her support her peers and strengthen her ability to work effectively in team-based environments. Additionally, she is currently working with UD on the reaccreditation process for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting body of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), ensuring high standards in nursing education.

Outside of school, she works as a part-time bartender at the Bayard House Restaurant in Chesapeake City—a role she takes great pride in. It has helped her develop essential communication, time management, and teamwork skills, all of which are invaluable in nursing.

UD celebrated the opening of Building X on April 17 — a modern research space built where McKinly Lab once stood.

Located at Academy Street and E. Delaware Avenue, it brings together experts in brain science, human disease, and quantum research.

Ag Day 2025 will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds surrounding Townsend Hall at 531 South College Avenue in Newark, Delaware.

This beloved rain-or-shine event welcomes the community to explore more than 50 attractions, exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities that celebrate the world of agriculture and natural resources. From live performances and plant sales to a vibrant food court and family-friendly fun, there's something for everyone.

This year, 42 UD students are volunteering with the VITA program, offering free tax preparation services to individuals and families earning up to $67,000. The program is a partnership between UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and local nonprofit Nehemiah Gateway CDC, the only IRS grant recipient in Delaware.

Students are trained and certified through a course led by accounting instructor Karen McDougal, and provide support at 10 in-person tax sites across the state — including Woodlawn Library in Wilmington — helping to improve financial well-being for Delawareans with low to moderate incomes.

Blue Hen parents Abrea and Scott Truskin have always supported causes close to their hearts. When their daughter Allie enrolled at UD’s Lerner College, they got involved—joining the Parent and Family Leadership Council and supporting the Parents Fund, Student Life initiatives, UD Athletics, and other opportunities that enhance the student experience across campus.

“When our daughter first started at UD, we decided we were going to see if we could assist somewhere in the college,” Scott Truskin said. “We reached out, we had a call and we also got involved with the Parent and Family Leadership Council. We liked what the Council was doing and wanted to get more involved. We feel that the more we learn, the more we do, the more we try to help where we can.”

More than 1,000 Delaware high school students have taken free college courses at the University of Delaware through its dual enrollment program. Launched in 2020, the program is wrapping up its fifth year and invites students from 26 partner high schools to earn up to 12 college credits before they graduate.
