Congratulations, Firefighter/EMT Bernard Stokes!

Bernard,

Two years ago, you walked into Sacramento Project Heartbeat Class 27, eager to learn, committed to the challenge, and determined to make a difference. Back then, you were just learning how to perform patient assessments—now, you’re the one responsible for making critical decisions in the field with a team, saving lives, and upholding the highest standards of the fire service.

It takes a special kind of person to reach this milestone. The grit, discipline, and perseverance you’ve shown in the face of every obstacle have shaped you into the firefighter and EMT you are today. The long hours, the tough calls, the relentless training—all of it has prepared you for this moment.

“Everyone at PHB is incredibly proud of you. Watching you grow from a student into a first responder ready to serve your community is an inspiration to all of us. The Vacaville Fire Department is gaining not just a firefighter, but a leader, a teammate, and a compassionate caregiver. Stay safe and stay in the fight my friend and now peer. Always here for you if you ever need anything “ -Brian, EMT Program Director, EMT-P

Congratulations on this incredible achievement, Bernard. This is just the beginning of an extraordinary career, and we can’t wait to see all the lives you’ll impact along the way. Stay safe, stay strong, and never forget where you started—because your journey is proof that hard work and heart can take you anywhere.

With pride and admiration,
Project Heartbeat Team
