After making a public records request, the City of Los Angeles provided journalist with an employee roster and headshots for the entire Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). After he shared the information, the City sued him.

While mayor Karen Bass has the ability to direct City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto to drop the charges, Bass has refused to do so.

Join us in hearing about police transparency and the public records act from Ben himself after watching a 10-minute mini doc by Eric Kelly.

Good afternoon scholars!

The first writing workshop in the Telling Your Story workshop series with the Inlandia Institute is today through April!

The series will be facilitated by Jerry Mathis, who is a formally incarcerated PEN American Writing for Justice Fellow with a wealth of knowledge and experience. These workshops are geared towards helping you to tell the story of:

•who you are.
•what you have been through.
•what your dreams are.

In addition to the workshops, CORE is having a second annual Healing Arts event in April. To see the publication we produced as part of the event last year, go to http://tinyurl.com/Spring22HAInscape

CORE scholars who attend the Telling Your Story workshop series and would like to share their stories, poems, and drawings are welcome to submit their work!

If you are interested in attending the workshop series, Workshops will be Tuesdays at 3 PM: 1/24, 2/7, 2/21, 3/7, 3/21, 4/4, 4/18.

You can attend in-person in the Writing Center (C 345), or at Zoom ID: corepcc.

Hope to see you there!✊🏽🖤
