In an era where the fabric of the American workforce is undergoing a seismic shift, the emergence of Gen Z marks a pivotal chapter in the narrative of labor and learning. Peter Zeihan’s insights into the future job market paint a picture of a generation poised between the collaborative spirit of Baby Boomers and the self-reliant tendencies of their successors. As the Baby Boomers retire, a chasm in blue-collar labor looms on the horizon, threatening to disrupt the very backbone of industry and infrastructure. Yet, within this challenge lies an opportunity—a chance to rekindle the aspirations of Gen Z and integrate them into the communal tapestry of the workforce.
Enter the gamification revolution: Badgemap community app that transcends traditional education, transforming museums, gardens, artist residencies, and maker spaces into vibrant hubs of learning and mentorship. Not merely a tool; it’s a movement, a call to action for a generation cultivated in isolation, yet brimming with untapped potential. By leveraging the power of play and the allure of competition, we can awaken the dormant curiosity of Gen Z, guiding them towards the fulfilling embrace of blue-collar professions.
The app’s innovative approach to gamification fosters social engagement, encouraging Gen Z to step out of the shadows of isolation and into the light of collaborative enterprise. It’s a bridge between the digital and the tangible, where the thrill of achievement and the joy of discovery coalesce. As they navigate through interactive challenges and real-world tasks, these young minds are not just earning points or badges; they’re gaining skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Moreover, this gamified journey addresses the pressing need for skilled blue-collar workers. It offers a solution that aligns with the intrinsic values of Gen Z—autonomy, mastery, and purpose. By connecting the dots between education, industry, and community, we can cultivate a generation of well-rounded individuals ready to wield the tools of trade with the same dexterity as they wield their smartphones.
In conclusion, the fusion of gamification with real-world learning environments presents a compelling antidote to the isolation of Gen Z. It’s a clarion call for unity, a strategy to bolster the ranks of blue-collar workers, and a testament to the enduring power of human connection. As we stand at the crossroads of change, let us choose the path that leads to a future where every individual can thrive, contribute, and find their place in the grand mosaic of society.

Moved my Education Project from Los Angeles in Nov 2020. Bought an 8k sqft commercial building on Main St of a friendly beautiful town near Kansas City for $15,000, my utility bill has been $55/mo. Yesterday started our School Library for $19 at the local library book sale. I'm equal distance between both coasts. Who needs to give away ownership to a VC, or bow to the World's largest Philanthropic foundation? Building Medici Florence type educational renaissance center of Life learning & creative center of the USA. Silicon Valley & Austin has lost their original innovation spirit, in my opinion, are copying ideas of the early 2000s. Started one of the first MOOCs, 2 years before Coursera & 3 years before edX. I've been working on the Future of Education since 2010 and helping others like edX find the path. If you are put off by my canter, I'm just leaning forward against the doubters. If I felt I needed the approval to break things or disrupt a terrible education system, I would not have started. I'm throwing down the gauntlet, please reach out and I will make room for kindergarten possibility thinkers to shake up the World. I will give you space with no strings in our building & mentor innovators. "Watch after your pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves" my Nana's quote.

Making Blended Learning a key component of the Classroom, connecting to the community, allows students to continue education when they are at home sick or can't attend school for some other reason. Covad 19 may have a silver lining, bringing US education into the 22nd Century. As one of the first MOOC developers [2010], I'm amazed at the Educational stakeholders like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, & 100's of add'l prestigious Educational leaders who have joined the MOOC movement. Your school system might consider Harvard/MIT 's free LMS OpenEdX. I have migrated away from my legacy LMS to OpenEdx, and find it modern & Robust. Currently migrating 900 MOOC courses. https://worldmentoringacademy.com/

Last month I asked Robert Reich this question; "The German government funds colleges with $11,000/student-year and the Colleges charge no tuition. US government funds $12,000/student-year and the College charge an additional $12,000/student. Do you see a path for the Democratic party to move our College to be as efficient as the German Colleges?" His answer was NO...

What's your 2020 resolution? The most ambitious resolution in my life is to make a path for US making them more effective than German Colleges which have no tuition and pay their Professors a living wage.

Currently, over 75% of professors are part of the gig economy, earning a median of $22,041/yr, no health insurance, & quarter receive government assistance. They have Masters & Ph.D.'s and make less than Kindergarten teachers. An increasing number are sleeping in their cars in many University parking lots. https://youtu.be/N3ITR--e4DI

Would 39% of Voters who have Student Debt vote for Socialism & Bankrupt US? Colleges are Structurally bankrupt & pay 76% of Professors less than a pet sitter. Students should cut out the middleman and pay Prof's directly, College would be $2,400 for Bachelors[see below pic]. Public Colleges get $12,000/yr-student or $48,000 subtract Prof pay we would save Taxpayer $45,500/student or route savings towards a really great party. And Students would not have Tuition!

Why do Students borrow avg $38,000 when they can earn the same degree for less than $8,000 including Books? In Boston last Dec[2018] met an 18 yr old Harvard Grad Student who earned her Bachelors in a year using 200+ Credit-by-Exams [AP/CLEP, DSST, TECEP, etc]. In fact, EdX founded by Harvard & MIT provide free test prep for AP's & CLEP's, and World Mentoring Academy has over 200 free prep courses. Being unaware{stupid} can cost you 3+ years & $30,000 debt. Help your friends & family from making the same mistakes as these foolish potential Socialist.

Prof Clayton Christensen HBS has stated, "In 15 yrs, 50% of Colleges will be gone".

I have made College Free w/o Tax $'s for the World since 2010, 3 years before EdX, 2 before Coursera, and am working in the Future. I'll help your College.

Students can earn their Bachelors/Masters in over 60 majors for less than $8,000 books & State College fees. https://lnkd.in/e7w2dRT

Dec 2018 Boston, met 18yr old Harvard Grad student who used this method to earn her BA in a year.

Current & Future k12/College will have; Decentralized Creative Spaces w/ PBL, Adjunct's/Teachers, MOOC courses [Blended Learning], Gov support [$12k/student-year] = No tuition, higher learning modality, research, art installations, films etc. and engaged students.

College future; Gov funding of $12,000/student-year with 50 students = $600,000-$100k[Adm overhead] - $60k[ space lease/yr] would leave $440,000 for Staff & Equipment/Supplies and no Tuition.

I was brief for your benefit, can elaborate and support claims.

Socialism is becoming popular with 39% of US voters who have Student Debt. The sad thing is there has been a Free College path since 2012, that avoids Student Loans. Students are getting their Bachelors/Masters in over 60 majors from several State Universities for less than $8,000 books & College fees, Challenging courses and using Credit-by-exam [AP's, CLEP's, DSST's etc] and Free test prep from World Mentoring Academy & EdX [Harvard & MIT]. Met an 18yr old Harvard Grad student in Boston 2018, who used the above method.
76% of all Professors are Adjunct with avg salary of $23k/yr [3% of tuition]. The future of College will probably be the MIT Blended Lab "Learning by Doing" with professors mentoring not lecturing in Creative Spaces. Colleges may be remodeled after this model? Using current Gov funding of $12k/student-yr with 50 students is $600,000 which may be 20% Adm [$100k] & leaving $500k for Professor salaries, Space rent etc. Check out "HomelessEducator" talk https://youtu.be/B5mvQfjeBYE?t=50s
