Hudson Decker’s journey from curious student to skilled CNC machinist proves that sometimes the best paths are the unexpected ones. A chance elective at North Central led to an internship at Moeller Aerospace, where he’s now honing his skills on five-axis HAAS mills—making parts that power airplane turbine engines. With a semester left until graduation, Decker is well on his way to becoming a CNC coder and manual machinist. His advice? “Don’t be afraid to try something new. You might just discover a passion you never knew existed.” Big thanks to NCMC faculty and career services for helping him find his way! ✈️🔧

This is just the beginning of the demolition phase of the CATEE Project. Once the Tech Building is demolished, construction begins on the new 11,750-square-foot Martin Jahn Technology Center! A soon to be state-of-the-art learning space dedicated to technology and skilled trades education. 🐾

Jaxon Kingma, a proud NCMC Early College grad of 2022, knew exactly where to turn when seeking an internship in economics and information systems—his alma mater! 🐾

Rather than relying on his current school, CMU, Jaxon reached out to NCMC's own Wendy Kresnak in Career Services. With her help, he secured a summer internship as a Junior Business Systems Analyst at Kilwins in Petoskey. 🌟

🌟 Jennifer Wixson, program coordinator and professor of Early Childhood Education, was honored with the Athena Award during the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd annual Celebration of Champions on December 4 at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts. Jennifer's dedication to fostering a sustainable child care system through the NCMC Child Care Initiative and her leadership in early childhood education make her a true inspiration. Congratulations, Jennifer!

Reminder that our Financial Aid office won’t receive your FAFSA applicant data until mid-March — six weeks later than expected. If you haven’t completed the FAFSA yet, there’s still time. We’ll send you an email with your financial aid award in April. ❔Questions about the new FAFSA application or award process? We can help! Email [email protected]!

🗣️ Yes, you should still complete the FAFSA! Good news! A last-minute change to the FAFSA formula will result in larger Pell grants for many students, which means bigger financial aid packages. The down side? North Central won’t receive your FAFSA information until mid-March — nearly a month later than usual. 🫠 What does this mean? Students should complete the FAFSA and then, well, just be patient.⏳👀 We’ll send you an email with your financial aid award in April. Questions about the new FAFSA application or award process?
