Exciting news! Phase I of North Central Michigan College's Career and Technical Education Enhancement (CATEE) project, a $20 million initiative set to redefine healthcare, manufacturing and skilled trades education, will begin June 17 with renovation to the college’s Health Education and Science Center. Phase II of the project, which begins in early 2025, includes the razing of the college’s 59-year-old Technology Building, transforming it into an expanded, state-of-the-art Technology Center.

✨ ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT ✨ Meet Lily Wilcox, a 2019 graduate of North Central's nursing program who earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Michigan. Her diverse professional experience includes roles in medical-surgical care and leadership as a charge nurse in Emergency Medicine at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Now a travel nurse in Northern Michigan, Wilcox continues to excel in emergency medicine while also mentoring future nurses as a clinical instructor and tutor for NCMC’s nursing program. Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting students from our Early College partners: Petoskey, Ga***rd, and Boyne City High Schools. It was an exciting introduction to our Early College program, sparking curiosity and paving the way for their academic journey ahead! 🚀 Boyne City and Petoskey experienced their largest cohorts yet—a promising start!

From humble beginnings 10 years ago with just 25 students, our Early College program has flourished into something remarkable. Now, we have over 400 graduates from Petoskey, Boyne City, and Ga***rd! We're also excited to extend our reach to include Cheboygan and Inland Lakes as our newest partners. 🐾

Field trips are an important part of expanding student educational opportunities and this spring Boyne City Public Schools have a variety of field trips planned for students from the Elementary, Middle, and High School.

Today, BCHS students from the Student Success for College dual enrollment class toured North Central Michigan College in Petoskey! These students from the Early College Program learned about what to expect in the 5th year of their program, enjoyed lunch at the Iron Horse Cafe, received their campus IDs, and completed a campus scavenger hunt. The Early College Program is a 5-year high school program, where our students earn both their high school diploma and an NCMC Associate Degree at the end of 5 years!

Reminder that our Financial Aid office won’t receive your FAFSA applicant data until mid-March — six weeks later than expected. If you haven’t completed the FAFSA yet, there’s still time. We’ll send you an email with your financial aid award in April. ❔Questions about the new FAFSA application or award process? We can help! Email [email protected]!

🗣️ Yes, you should still complete the FAFSA! Good news! A last-minute change to the FAFSA formula will result in larger Pell grants for many students, which means bigger financial aid packages. The down side? North Central won’t receive your FAFSA information until mid-March — nearly a month later than usual. 🫠 What does this mean? Students should complete the FAFSA and then, well, just be patient.⏳👀 We’ll send you an email with your financial aid award in April. Questions about the new FAFSA application or award process?
