Today we release episode 200 of the podcast “PoemTalk,” which began in 2007 and hasn’t missed a month since then. On this occasion we brought together some dear friends—Evie Shockley, Aldon Nielsen, William J. (Billy Joe) Harris, and Tyrone Williams. The discussion—of two of Evie’s poems—was recorded at the end of 2023, and we lost our friend Tyrone a few months later. Aldon, Billy Joe, Erica Hunt, Simone White and others will come together on Tuesday, November 12, at the Kelly Writers here in Philadelphia for a memorial gathering and reading in honor of Tyrone.

In 2009 Robert Coover spent some days with us as a Kelly Writers House Fellow—thus I had the great great pleasure of reading & teaching most of his stunningly fabulous books. His representation of Charlie Chaplin in "Charlie and the House of Rue" is one of the most dazzling pieces of experimental prose fiction I have ever read! Samuel Sloan is the architect who designed the Tudor-style cottage that is now the Kelly Writers House. It was built in 1851 and in 1852 Sloan published a book about domestic architecture. This sketch is not a depiction quite of KWH but it is the type of home Sloan idealized.
