A big part of the educational experience we offer our students in STHM revolves around taking them out into the real world to attend national conferences.

Each year, we open up an Owl Crowd campaign and invite our community to contribute to the travel expenses related to these trips. These donations allow our students a chance to shine among their peers and industry leaders. Please consider donating today!

On this Veterans Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have selflessly served to protect and defend our nation. 🇺🇸

Senior Maya Sheed is a perfect example of this dedication. After six years of service in the U.S. Army, she is now pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at STHM, with plans to graduate in 2025!

Her journey—and the sacrifices made by so many in our community—remind us of the extraordinary commitment it takes to serve.

We are deeply thankful for your courage, dedication, and service. ❤️

From Super Bowl champion to successful entrepreneur, this alum's journey is truly extraordinary! 🏈✨

After being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning a Super Bowl with them, and excelling on the field, Rian Wallace returned to Temple to complete his degree at the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM). His determination to finish what he started reflects the spirit we hold so dear. 🦉 🍒

Today, Rian channels that same drive into his thriving business, Bare Hand Love Cuisine. And we couldn’t be prouder to share that he was the primary caterer for the Fox/STHM Homecoming tent this past weekend! 😋

This story is a perfect blend of perseverance, passion, and the power of coming full circle—both on and off the field.

The newly released video game EA Sports College Football 25 took the world by storm following its July release. It was the first college football video game released in more than a decade, and many longtime fans were clamoring to sink their teeth in the revived franchise and rebuild their favorite college football programs in the game’s “dynasty” mode.

IcyVert, a popular Twitter user turned Twitch streamer, was just looking to get in on the action like everyone else. He had streamed himself playing video games before, but never gained much of a following.

His CFB 25 dynasty mode, where he played as Temple Football, took the internet by storm, racking up thousands of viewers and millions of Twitter impressions. His viral internet presence also had people from across the country talking about Temple, albeit being in virtual video game form.

IcyVert also caught the attention of representatives from Temple Football, eventually landing him an opportunity to attend a football practice and meet players and coaches.
“I didn't expect anything from this,” IcyVert said. “The fact that I got anything out of it at all was just super kind. I'm super grateful because I personally had a lot of fun. It was a very different experience that I didn't think I would get.”

Dionna Swinson is a junior majoring in Events and Entertainment Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. Recently, through the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD), she attended a four-day student program in Miami, an event dedicated to supporting black professionals in the hotel industry. During the conference, Dionna engaged in various panels covering topics such as commercial real estate, hotel investment, and generational wealth creation.

A standout moment for Dionna was participating in and winning a student hotel development competition, where her team designed an innovative luxury hotel concept. This experience not only deepened her knowledge of the hospitality industry but also provided her with valuable networking opportunities with professionals and students from all over, including some of our very own alumni! Dionna’s involvement in NABHOOD has further fueled her passion for entrepreneurship; she is excited to utilize these experiences as she pursues a career in live entertainment management.
