CCA Furniture The Furniture program focuses on the fertile intersection of the disciplines of furniture design, industrial design, sculpture, architecture, and fashion.

The Furniture Program focuses on production as well as studio furniture, a fertile intersection of the disciplines of furniture design, industrial design, sculpture, architecture, and fashion. The program emphasizes making skills (woodworking, metalworking, upholstery, and industrial fabrication), drawing and computer-based design, and a theoretical investigation of furniture as both functional object and cultural agent.

Fall semester is officially over and CCA is closed for the winter holiday. We’ll be taking a break here as well but before signing off… there’s one more announcement coming later today. We are hosting an extra special event coming in January as part of — highlighting the work and practices of local CCA Furniture alumni. Keep your calendars open on Friday January 24 📍

FRIDAY Field Trip to the in Richmond CA! We were very lucky to get a private tour led by Llisa Demetrios who shared the histories and personal stories of her grandparents, Ray and Charles Eames. One of their design philosophies centered on making the invisible visible — which the Eames Institute does so beautifully, surfacing the rich intersection of life and works as the heart of creative practice. Thanks to everyone at the Eames Institute for an inspiring + informative afternoon!
