I stepped in the transformative world of chair design today over at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA)'s amazing new exhibit,"PLEASE BE SEATED."
You can craft your own chair, marvel at artist-transformed chairs, and explore limitless creativity- as the one Im admiring by Miami Ad School design student Liza Langstaff creating,"Dink Master." A chair as she imagines,"you can only sit in this chair after you've played 4+ hours of pickleball. Go Play!"
Each chair narrates a unique story – from solitude's elegance to the warmth of friendship. From Eileen Gray's timeless designs to Ray and Charles Eames' iconic creations, the exhibit seamlessly blends tradition and modernity, reflecting values and opinions. Brace for a 'WOW factor!,' as you immerse in the rich tapestry of the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA)'s chair exhibit. You’ll rethink chairs as vessels of expression and innovation. Miami Ad School and Furman University's new Master of Arts in Strategic Design. Our exciting new program is an innovative partnership between Furman University in Greenville, S.C. and Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center in Atlanta.
The new Master of Arts in Strategic Design launches this June 10th. Students will spend eight weeks at the Furman campus and then head to Atlanta to dive in at Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center.
Students will come out of the program with a Master of Arts in Strategic Design degree from Furman, a robust network of heavy-hitting contacts and mentors in the design and advertising fields, a practicum, hands-on training in innovative concepts, and a comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates acumen in the fields of design, advertising, branding, and innovation.
The Master’s program is a multi-disciplinary initiative which features content and courses from Communication Studies, Business, English and Art programs at Furman University and a hands-on, innovative professional environment from Miami Ad School @ Portfolio Center, all of which prepare students for their next big career opportunity. There are three major tracks- Art Direction, Design, and Copywriting.
Ross McClain, B.A, University of Western Kentucky; M.A. and M.F.A., University of Iowa; and Chair of the Department of Art at Furman University is the new Program Director. Sarah Braver, is the Furman University, Chair of the Leadership Board for the Master of Arts in Strategic Design.
