Established in 1970, we are proud of our legacy and look forward to the continued growth of our department with the support of CCSF’s students, faculty, administration, and the community we serve.

In celebration of National Women’s Month in the Philippines and Women’s History Month in the U.S., the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is hosting “Women and Philippine Culture: A Forum with Filipina Culture Bearers in the Bay Area” this Friday, 22 March 2024, 4:00 p.m., at Sentro Rizal, 5th Floor, Philippine Center, 447 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94108.

Our speakers include: Charm Consolacion (FEC Galing Bata Program); Sonia Delen (Filipino Food Movement, UP Alumni Association of San Francisco Cultural Immersion Summer Camp); Stephanie Herrera (Kariktan Dance Company); Rachel Lozada (The Hinabi Project, HABIness); Keesa Ocampo (Filipino Food Movement, House of Hara); and Lily Ann Villaraza, PhD (Philippine Studies Department - CCSF).

We are beyond excited to announce PHST50 WILL be offered this semester!

PHST50: LGBTQ+ Filipinx Identities and Cultures is a one-of-a-kind course that examines the experiences of the Filipinx LGBTQ+ communities in the Philippines and the diaspora. Using an intersectional approach, topics include, but are not limited to, the histories and legacies of colonization, belief systems and faith, q***r cultural values, family dynamics, sexuality, gender identities, struggles for acceptance, liberation, colonial mentality, and contemporary efforts of advocacy and activism by the q***r Filipinx community.

AND...we have an amazing new instructor - Celeste Francisco!
