Beautiful event that IME students & faculty got to attend today with Viola Davis at / University of San Francisco! Some nuggets of wisdom she shared:

Reflecting on her time in high school & through Upward Bound: โ€œMy teachers carried meโ€ฆ it was less about making grades and more about love. Love is what carries us. It was so different from homeโ€

On success:
โ€œFighting for success is not the same as fighting for significance. Thatโ€™s a much bigger question.โ€

On art:
โ€œArt can be a meeting place for humanity. Too often it has become an escape. Art is not about escapism. Art is about connection.โ€

If you have not seen WOMAN KING, go watch it immediately

This White paper for the American Council on Education contributes to policy and practice around how higher education institutions are categorized.

It explores how Tribal Colleges and Universities have been classified and the ways this serves and disserves their ability to fulfill their unique missions. In doing so, the white paper contributes to understanding how Tribal colleges and universities serve students and communities in meaningful ways.
