On November 17, 1911, our fellow National Pan-Hellenic Council member organization Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on four principles: manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift, which they continue to exemplify today, from Canada to Bermuda, Germany to Panama where their over 750 chapters impact and transform communities.

This past Saturday, Phi Upsilon Zeta Sorors had the opportunity to say thank you to our Veterans. Not only do we proudly give flowers to those who have served in our chapter, but we also donated food items to the USO Lounge in Washington Dulles International Airport. The lounge, which opened in 2007, welcomes more than 25,000 visitors per year. We donated several items from their wish list and it was a blessing to see the smiles on their faces. 💙🇺🇸

Thank you for your service.

Late last month, The Maryland National Guard hosted a renaming and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Major General Linda L. Singh Readiness Center in Eldersburg, Maryland. Dr. Singh was the first African American and the first woman to lead the Maryland National Guard as the 29th adjutant general and, she is a proud honorary member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

We asked Dr. Singh to share what this sacred day means to her:

“To me, Veterans Day is singing praise to those veterans who have served before us—making pathways and being the guiding light for those who cannot find their way. It is a time when we can shine a light on their stories for inspiration and hope.”

On this Veterans Day, we honor the members of our sisterhood and all who have selflessly served to ensure our safety as a country. Take a moment and thank a veteran today.
