Konz Obtains Software Engineer Position with RFA/John Deere

Siems Obtains Internship with Wells Enterprises

Congratulations to BVU computer science student Lauren (Rae) Siems on obtaining an information technology internship at Wells Enterprises in Le Mars, Iowa, during the summer of 2023. Rae’s internship will be partly in Le Mars and partly remote. Good luck this summer, Rae!

The Computer Science department represented itself well at the annual MICS Conference, held in Cedar Falls. 22 students and 3 faculty members attended. One of our teams placed 3rd overall among 33 teams in the programming contest. Also impressive is the fact that 8 of the 33 teams were from BVU, and many of the BVU teams solved at least three problems.

As we mentioned in an earlier post, BVU placed third in the "sumo" robotics competition. BVU student Sieger Canney also presented his paper "Automation in the Food Service Industry and Its Wide Reaching Effects" to a packed room.

Richards Awarded Internship with Argonne National Laboratories

Congratulations to BVU computer science student Jed Richards on being awarded an internship at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) through the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program for the summer of 2023.
Jed will help in the development of machine learning and mathematical models to identify hydropower operations that benefit both hydropower economics and the environment. Jed’s primary responsibilities will involve Python coding for mathematical programming using tools like PyTorch and TensorFlow. Enjoy the experience, Jed!

Bardwell Accepts Software Developer Position with Principal Financial

During the summer of 2022, BVU computer science senior Sam Bardwell successfully completed an internship as a development and operations (DevOps) engineer with Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa. At the conclusion of the internship, Sam was offered a full-time position as a software developer, which he has since accepted. He will begin his new position following graduation in May 2023. Congratulations, Sam, and best of luck to you!

Bohner Accepts Position with Amazon Web Services

Congratulations to BVU computer science senior Joshua Bohner. At the conclusion of Joshua's successful internship with Amazon Web Services (AWS) this summer, he was offered and has accepted a full-time position with AWS as a Cloud Support Associate. Joshua will begin his duties after graduating in May. Well done, Joshua!
