The critters have been taking over campus this summer while the students are away. Time for Security to give these friends the eviction notice and move them along to prepare for students to return. Can’t wait for everyone to come back as we are counting down the days.

Congratulations to all our Graduates today. We saw some of your challenging days, and we saw some days where you achieved greatness! We are so proud of all of you. . .even if a couple of you took a few extra years to get that diploma. Congratulations and good luck on your future endeavors.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Sexual Assault affects everyone —survivors, family, friends, loved ones—. Getting consent, bystander intervention, and being there for survivors all help to combat Sexual Assault. With our words and our actions, we can make a community to surround those affected with hope, courage, and strength. If you see something, say something. End the silence!

Team Wellness had their Alcohol, Drug, and Sexual Assault Awareness Carnival tonight in Forum. Campus Security sponsored the darts event. We hope everyone had a Poppin’ good time, we sure did. Have a great weekend Beavers. Safety First!

Last night an unwelcome guest came back to campus. That's right, snow! It looks like Punxsutawney Phil, our trusted groundhog lied to us about spring coming early… so instead of trusting Phil let’s remember Security’s snow advice. When walking to class take some precautions by walking slowly and wiping your feet off at the doors. The slip and slides will have to wait for summer, so don’t be slipping around today! Do the penguin shuffle and have a great weekend everyone. As always make smart choices out there!
You are ducking awesome! Security wants you to remember not only today but every day to take care of yourself mentally and physically! Make sure you make smart choices this St. Paddy’s day weekend and wear your green to support all those who are dealing with mental health challenges!
Spring Break is next week and a well-deserved break for our hardworking students. Please be safe if you are traveling. Have the phone charged and travel in groups. Drink responsibly and know your limits. Watch your drinks and keep an eye on your friends. If it's against the law, it's not worth it. You don’t want to have to call your mom to bail you out of jail. Drink plenty of high-quality H20. Use sunscreen as we have not seen the sun in a bit. Use Condom sense and practice safe s*x. Additionally remember consent is clear, coherent, willing, and ongoing. Consent is not only s*xy, it is mandatory! Be aware of your surroundings, valuables, and stranger danger. Drive safe and slow down in places you don’t know.
Don’t add to the population, don’t subtract from the population, stay out of the hospital and jail. Remember Spring Break can be more than a party, and sometimes a well-needed staycation is awesome too. We just want our Beavers to be safe out there and return rested and ready for the end of the semester when they get back. Make smart choices everyone!
Understanding the issues concerning su***de and mental health is an important way to take part in su***de prevention, help others in crisis, and change the conversation around su***de. TimelyCare is a free app for our students to talk to a counselor 24-7; try it out if you have not yet. Take care of yourself and help others. We are all in this together. You got this Beavers!
Happy Valentine's Day as love in in the air today. Security had a consent table in the Forum to show the importance of good communication with your partner. We also put platonic valentines on dorm doors late last night. Reminding everyone to love your partner, but more importantly, love yourself.
Whether you are rooting Chiefs, 49ers, or Swifties. Make safe choices this Super Bowl Sunday. Don’t get flagged for a DUI, and instead score a sober driver home. Enjoy the game with snacks and high-quality H2O! Drive sober or game over, make good choices this Super Bowl Sunday.
Beavers, it’s the first day of February and it’s no secret you are our Valentine this year. We would “love” to share some of the love we do for our community.
Our hearts are never fuller when your car starts after a jump start. When you are locked out of your car, we have the keys to your heart. We got you babe and can put air in your car flat tire.
It can be cold out, but it warms our hearts when we can help dig you out of the snow so you can make it to your job on time. We love you matcha when you help dig too.
Roses are red, and your bumps and bruises can be blue, our first responder team is here for you. We care for you a latte. We can whisk you off your feet and drive you to the ER or doctor appointments when you are weak in the knees.
We are head over heels patrolling campus, and don’t forget Safety Escorts are available and we can skip with you back home. Even though you are dino-mite, five months later you are still getting locked out of your dorm room.
We are a sucker for how amazing you are, but don’t go bacon our hearts getting into shenanigans.

It's sweater weather still on campus and Security had our Winter weather table to discuss it's too cold to be a hot mess out there so drive slow and give yourself enough time to travel. This weather is snow joke, but the temperature can only go up from here. There's snowplace like home at BVU, even if the cold air smacks you like a free cup of hot cocoa out there.
PS We have shovels you can borrow if you need to dig your car out. Every day we’re shovelin'.
First, the snow came then the bitter cold. We highly recommend putting your flip-flops away when on campus this week. Avoid outside activities if possible, and dress in layers head to toe this weekend. Don’t worry about looking cool, but worry about getting frost bite out there. Wear the jacket!
Due to predicted inclement weather, Storm Lake campus classes are canceled for Friday, Jan. 12. Be safe, Beavers!
Beavers! First off, we are excited to see you all back for this next semester! Of course, living in Iowa, we must be aware of driving in not so fun road conditions. Here are some tips to keep in mind when traveling in winters conditions:
1. Remove all snow and ice from windows, headlights, and taillights before you drive.
2. Maintain at least a half tank of gas during the winter season.
3. Keep a travel kit with you containing items such as: Flashlights with extra batteries, first aid kit, blankets, small shovel, Food(such as granola bars and water) and extra mittens, hats, and socks.
4. Make sure all movements are controlled and deliberate. Accelerate slowly to avoid loss of traction and loss of control.
5. Use greater following distances. Stopping distances on roads with ice and snow can triple over distances under normal conditions. Double or triple the 2-second count rule to create a safety buffer zone behind the vehicle in front of yours.
6. Remember – "Smooth and slow on ice and snow." Beware of "black ice" when the roadway appears dry but the color of the pavement is darker and dull looking.
Try avoiding travel during blizzard conditions, and keep up to date with both local weather, and weather where you are traveling to!
