This week's features alumna Ashley Fullenlove-Babb!
Ashley graduated from Lourdes in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Administration and gave the student commencement speech. She was a part of the Lourdes competitive cheer team for four years, winning two WHAC championships and making two appearances at nationals her junior and senior years. Since graduating, she has spent two years as a personal banker and five years coaching Northwood High School cheerleading, winning two State Championship titles. Since 2022, Ashley has held the position of Financial Aid Advisor here at Lourdes! Last year, she started pursuing her MBA through Lourdes, and plans to graduate next year.

Ashley's married to fellow Lourdes alumnus Zach Babb, who played baseball and graduated in 2017 with three degrees: Accounting, Business Administration, and Marketing. He currently works with A-Gas America. The couple shares a son named Carter and a pup named Cruze. Ashley and Zach are currently expecting their second child in March 2024. Congratulations, Ashley and Zach!

“Dear Lourdes University community,

With the continuing winter weather, blowing and drifting in the forecast, we are closing the University, offices, and all in person classes, tomorrow Friday, Feb. 4.

This means that all Friday in person classes are cancelled. Instructors can choose to move their courses online at their discretion. Instructors who decide to move their class online should communicate their plans to their students as soon as possible.

Meetings for official University business can be moved to Zoom or Teams. Essential employees, those required for safety or for services to our residential students, are expected to report to work unless notified otherwise by their direct supervisor.

Please stay safe and thank you for your patience as we navigate this weather.”

Given the declining weather conditions in our area, with snow accumulating and more to follow, we are closing the University, offices, and all in person classes, today Feb 2 at 4pm through Thursday, Feb. 3. We will evaluate the plans for Friday by early afternoon tomorrow.

This means that all evening Wednesday and all day and evening Thursday in person classes are cancelled. Instructors can choose to move their courses online at their discretion. Instructors who decide to move their class online should communicate their plans to their students as soon as possible.

An update on Lourdes status for Friday will be shared as we assess the evolving weather conditions.

Please stay safe and keep an eye on your email and media in case additional updates are needed.

We had quite a few questions about the 'Going Merry' website and using it to file the FAFSA. This website does have a function to 'help' file the FAFSA, but there are a few things to know!
The 'helpful tips' given is all information directly from the FAFSA. If you click on the question mark on a part of the FAFSA you don't understand, it will also give helpful tips!
You cannot use the Data Retrieval Tool on Going Merry. You would have to enter all tax information manually. One of the great things about the FAFSA if the DRT, which transfers all tax info directly in to the FAFSA. This cuts down on the amount of time it takes to file, and reduced the chance of putting incorrect information in, which could impact your financial aid!
You still need to go on the FAFSA website to sign with your FSA ID after submitting through this external site.
Based on this, you're getting the same helpful info (available on the FAFSA site), actually doing more work (inputting tax info manually), and still going to the FAFSA website (to sign with the FSA ID). So better to use the Department of Educations actual site, www.fafsa.ed.gov!

Going Merry does seem like a great tool to find scholarships though! and you can use FAFSA information to help narrow down scholarship opportunities!
