Calling all history buffs!

Join us as we celebrate the Bicentennial of Major General Gilbert Motier, Marquis de Lafayette’s Farewell Tour, and his historic visit to Troy on September 18, 1824.

As part of his visit, the General met with Emma Willard, the ladies of the city, and the young ladies of Mrs. Willard’s innovative school, the Troy Female Seminary, now the Russell Sage College campus.

We mourn the passing of our friend and colleague in Women's Studies, Dr. Chrys Ingraham. Dr. Ingraham served many years as the Director of the Helen M. Upton Center for Women's Studies and embodied what it meant to be a Russell Sage College Woman of Influence. She co-founded the Women In/Changing the World general education program, she challenged students to think critically about feminist and social justice issues, she brought a long list of distinguished scholars to campus for Women's History Month, and she honored the work of her colleagues with joyous potluck receptions in the Upton Center. Her influence will be long lasting and we will miss her.
