The Capital District EOC was proud to continue its tradition of participating in the annual New York State Associationโ€™s Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Caucus at the Empire State Plaza last Saturday. Students in our Cosmetology and Natural Hair Styling programs offered treatments to attendees, including thermal styling, strip lashes, braids, or locks. Students from our Culinary Arts program provided delicious snacks, including chili-lime tortilla chips and cupcakes. Students were given an opportunity to share their CDEOC experiences and aspirations for the future with the general public, legislators and SUNY UCAWD leadership.

A big thank you to Mr. Harry Harder of Harder's Beauty & Barber Supplies Co., Inc. for speaking to our Natural Hair and Cosmetology students and sharing his experience in the Capital Region's beauty business industry. Our students got an insight to the perseverance and consistency needed in operating a small business through hearing Mr. Harder's story, and the aspiring business owners in our courses were able to ask questions and learn about business resources for when they are ready to start up their own. Shout out to EOC College and Career Services for the connection!

A group of EOC staff, faculty and culinary students had the honor of attending the Friends of SUNY Legislative event, focused on celebrating the institutions and services across the SUNY system. Our incredible chefs Taffiny Elrod-Ljikovic and Mark Donvito, along with our EOC culinary students, collaborated on the ideas and preparation of the menu and highlighted the amazing work that takes place here at the EOC. On the menu for this event was a Japanese-inspired fusion of Shrimp Nigiri, Chicken Yakitori with Coconut Curry Sauce, and Mango and Strawberry Cream Puffs.
