Hi everyone!

Bad news: we're going to have to cancel our event tomorrow, we had too many staff members come down sick. We did our best to find subs but no one was available on short notice.
We apologize for the last minute change and appreciate your understanding.
We will be back December 14th for our final event before the holidays! We hope to see you all there!

Warm regards,
The Shared Reading Saturday Team

Thank you to everyone who came out for last night's screening and panel. It was a joy getting to share Michelle's story and the important conversations it inspires with you all. Please tell your family and friends Michelle's story. If you are interested in making change as out panelists discussed last night you can reach out to them.

And as Kellynette Gomez mentioned, there is a need for signing foster families which is something that MA DCF is working on. They would be happy to hear from you!

Gallaudet University Regional Center East and it's programs will be closed on Monday in honor of Indigenous People's Day. We will open again on Tuesday, October 15th.

Northern Essex Community College and Gallaudet University Regional Center - East resid on the ancestral lands of the Pennacook communities, the original land of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribes. We acknowledge that the Pennacoock were removed from their land through hegemonic and colonial processes that caused pain and displacement. It is by acknowledging the connection of this land and its first inhabitants, we seek to show "respect and a step toward correcting the stories and practices that erase Indigenous people’s history and culture and toward inviting and honoring the truth" (U.S. Department of Arts & Culture, n.d.). We also acknowledge the history of Caribbean, Latinx, Black American, Asian settlers, and guests, whose history has also been marked by colonialism, violence, and loss. We work to acknowledge and put forth the history of those who have been silenced and whose history has been subject to erasure as the result of systemic oppression.

It's the big night! See you all at the screening and panel!¡Es la gran noche! ¡Nos vemos en la proyección y en el panel!
