Alumna Masha Rumer recently completed her nonfiction book about immigrant families, Parenting with an Accent: How Immigrants Honor Their Heritage, Navigate Setbacks, and Chart New Paths for Their Children. The book is coming out from Beacon Press / distributed by Penguin Random House on Nov. 9, 2021. It includes her personal stories, research, and interviews with other immigrants and experts in bilingualism, psychology and more. SCS Hoyas, we have an important announcement regarding the Fall 2021 semester. Beginning on August 16, Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies will resume regular operating status at our 640 Massachusetts Avenue campus. To ensure the safety of our students, staff, and faculty, we will continue to follow CDC and local guidelines and ask that everyone continue to wear appropriate face masks when indoors. Today, President DeGioia announced our plan to host an in-person Commencement for the Class of 2021 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. on Monday, May 24.
Ceremonies will take place in two parts, with a ceremony for undergraduate students in the morning and a ceremony for graduate and professional students in the afternoon. All ceremonies will be broadcasted virtually for those who are unable to attend in person.
