I post here to honor one of our University Honors graduates, Kevin Peacock, '17, who also earned a CPA and worked at Gallaudet's finance office as a senior accountant. It broke my heart to learn that Kevin ended his life in July. He had so many gifts, including a magnanimous heart. Kevin not only excelled in numbers but also in writing; he easily could have been an outstanding Humanities major. I cherish my conversations with Kevin, especially when we worked one-on-one on his capstone. It was easy to engage Kevin in a variety of topics, from family stories to politics and career plans, to big picture discussions of Honors and Gallaudet. As was typical of Kevin, he gave so much to me, probably more than I ever gave him. And he was so articulate and empowering. For one thing, he opened my eyes to Honors program strengths! And his capstone work on fee-for-service financial investing set me on the financial investing path I am on today. Imagine! I am so grateful even as I mourn his early death. Though on this earth a relatively short time, Kevin
left an indelible mark in my mind and in my heart. You all can be proud of this fellow Honors graduate. If you want to see the memorial service, you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/6hbj84N1htw
