The PGE department congratulates our 2024 student awardees!

First, we would like to extend our congratulations to our students who were recognized as SIS-wide Graduate Student Award winners. Calvin Elison (CRS) was presented with the Outstanding Academic Performance or Scholarly Contribution award. Mateo Maya (IER) was awarded the Outstanding Service On-Campus award.

On May 8th, the PGE department hosted the PGE Graduation Ceremony, celebrating our department-wide student awardees.

On April 1st, Professor LeVan's "African State and Society" class welcomed Chidi Blyden for a conversation about and . The event was very engaging and informative!

Chidi Blyden is the deputy CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Prior to joining MCC, Blyden served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs and worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. She also has experience conducting oversight as a congressional aide, and directed the Africa Program at the Center for Civilians in Conflict.

The Politics, Governance, and Economics Department wishes to congratulate Grace Roundcourt, Josh Elliot, Kevin Farmer and Gabby McKay on their win over 28 other teams from across the US.

In the final, they presented their very innovative proposal on cooperation between the , the US, and Latin America-Caribbean states, in front of an all-star panel with 3 different Ambassadors, including the EU Ambassador. This was a wonderful experience with University and University of Utah as runners up in the competition.
