We have reached the culmination of Class 70, with 20 graduates having completed the program. This evening's graduation ceremony marked the occasion. Furthermore, we completed the week with hazmat operations testing, achieving a perfect 100% pass rate on the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. A short walk with some fire hose and a motivational speech with Chief Chilcutt rounded out the week's activities. We offer our congratulations and best wishes to our firefighters as they move forward.

The final step is testing. Upon completing their hazmat operations, they are now concluding the last of the four segments necessary to become firefighters. In the group picture, Class 70 signed a wall in our training building, upholding a tradition that started with Class 68.

Our hazmat operations training continue. The past week encompassed gross, technical and mass decontamination, along with extended training exercises in hazmat suits.

Some action photos have slowed down slightly as the team has progressed to Hazmat awareness and Hazmat operations training. Classroom instruction and written assignments have comprised a significant portion of the curriculum. Nevertheless, we managed to allocate time to refine firefighting techniques. Following the Thanksgiving break, we have only a few weeks remaining before graduation on December 20th. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!

We have had an eventful week of learning that included public safety education and Firefighter 2 live burns, and it was capped off by a state firefighter 2 skills test that all participants passed. Hazmat awareness is on the docket for next week.

During week 9, we began with all cadets passing the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Firefighter 1 test on Monday. Next, we progressed to Firefighter 2 training, which included foam, incident command, and rescue techniques, such as vehicle extrication.

As we wrap up this long week following live burn exercises, the cadets successfully completed their Firefighter 1 state skills assessment. They are now poised to tackle the corresponding state written exam on Tuesday. The cadets must pass a total of four sets of state-level tests to secure their certification.

Week 6 remains difficult, but we're progressing! We learned about advancing, firehose and streams, and assisted with a campus luncheon and National Night Out as public service. Now, only one week until the live burns for firefighter 1.
