The college offers majors in a variety of areas relating to human development across the lifespan – teaching, counseling, educational leadership, athletic training, exercise science, sport management and more. Teacher education majors get extensive hands-on experience in Kansas’ largest, most diverse school district throughout their program, well in advance of their final student teaching placemen
ts. Students in other majors gain field experience in other education settings, conduct research in WSU's state-of-the-art Human Performance Laboratory, or intern with the top sport organizations in the country. Such experience, combined with a solid foundation of knowledge gained in the classroom, positions College of Education graduates for success in their chosen professions.

Casey Ratzlaff, Wichita State Sport Management major, has become one of the top wheelchair tennis players under the guidance of Justin DeSanto and Nick Taylor. Now ranked as the top American, Ratzlaff will compete in the Paris Paralympics, continuing his remarkable journey in the sport.

Meet our new Director of Academic Advising, Emily Stevens!
Stevens has worked at Wichita State for 7 years where she started as the Academic Advising Coordinator for the Teacher Apprentice Program and has now transitioned to the Director of Academic Advising for the College of Applied Studies. She loves academic advising because she gets to use some of her personal skills to help students reach their educational, personal, and life goals. Aside from work, Stevens enjoys sports and the outdoors and is even a coach for her daughter's softball team. She has a passion for history/government so she is also an Adjunct Faculty who teaches History/Government college courses for various institutions.

Pre-service science teachers in the Middle/Secondary Science Education Program showcased engaging science demonstrations to teach a concept and model safety procedures. After each student has shared their project, they have a collection of science demonstration ideas to use in their classrooms. Additionally, students get practice early in the program to present with hands-on science equipment and materials.
