The Society of Professional Journalists is embedded in the history of Journalism. The Loyola Chapter has won the Best Chapter in the Region award three times. This organization gives students the opportunity to travel the country and participate in regional and national SPJ conferences where they network and learn from leading industry professionals. This Thursday we are joining Chicago Headline Club and Loyola’s center for Digital Ethics and Policy for a panel on Data Hygiene for Journalists at 5:45 in Corboy L14. Panelists include Jonathan Peters, media law professor, Elliot Ramos, Digital Editor for WBEZ, ProPublicq reporter, Jason Grotto and many more!

Hope to see you there! This is in place of our regular meeting.

Read some of Jennifer Smith Richard's work with the Chicago Tribune as she helped uncover a s*x abuse scandal within Chicago Public Schools: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/watchdog/ct-met-school-s*x-abuse-lovett-20180625-story.html. She will be joining us for tomorrow's panel

Marvin Lovett was a trusted mentor at Johnson Elementary. He also was a pe*****le, accused of abusing 19 boys. The Tribune has obtained a report that concluded the principal knew or should have known he posed a risk. But the findings were rejected and the principal was not disciplined.
