Abstract
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been started decades ago. It was used for facilitating different aspects of human life such as natural language processing, voice recognition, image recognition and handwriting analysis. It is now considered the most valuable invention of humans which is ubiquitous across societies. This systematic review studies the research papers conducted in Asian countries to find out the role of AI in speaking classes of EFL learners. The studies were collected from three databases: ELSEVIER, Google Scholar and Scopus journals databases. The studies collected were conducted between the years 2015 to 2025 at the EFL speaking classes. 327 articles were found in the three databases from which only seven were included in the study according to inclusion/exclusion criteria. After a careful review of the articles, it was found that AI has vital and the most significant role in EFL speaking classes as it develops students’ fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, spoken grammar and self-confidence. The result of this study could be of great use to the lecturers in Afghan university to shift focus towards the use of AI in their classes.
