Advanced Tools for Behavioural Change in Energy Consumption for Higher Education Stakeholders.

🌱 On 11 June, our partner World University Service (WUS) Austria had the pleasure of participating in the Sustainability Day at FH JOANNEUM in Graz, Austria, where they presented the ABCinEnergy project to students, academic staff, and other interested participants.

Throughout the day, there were many valuable conversations about energy awareness, behaviour change, and the role of higher education in creating a more sustainable future. Our partners from WUS Austria were also inspired by the other organisations represented and by the insightful lectures and panel discussion held in the afternoon.

Events like these demonstrate the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing sustainability within higher education and beyond.

🌏Global Wind Day 2026

Today we celebrate Global Wind Day, an opportunity to reflect on the role renewable energy plays in building a more sustainable future.

Wind power is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy sources worldwide. It helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, decreases dependence on fossil fuels, and supports the transition to cleaner energy systems. However, creating a sustainable future is not only about producing clean energy – it is also about using energy more responsibly.

At ABCinEnergy, we believe that lasting change starts with everyday habits. Turning off unnecessary lighting, unplugging unused devices, using equipment efficiently, and making conscious energy choices can significantly reduce energy consumption over time. When responsible energy use is combined with renewable energy sources such as wind power, the positive impact becomes even greater.

We’re pleased to share that our partner, VILNIUS TECH – Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, presented the ABCinEnergy project at the 16th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2026” on 14 May.

The presentation showcased key achievements from WP2, including the project’s strategic roadmap, and highlighted how ABCinEnergy is supporting more sustainable energy management in higher education institutions.

The session also featured an engaging Q&A, where participants discussed the project’s progress, current activities, and the ongoing second piloting phase.

Events like these provide valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, gather feedback, and strengthen collaboration as we continue advancing the project.

🌍 Today is World Environment Day 2026 – a reminder that protecting our planet starts with everyday choices.

Climate action doesn't always require big changes. Simple actions can make a real difference: 🚶 choose walking, cycling, or public transport when possible, 💡 switch off lights and devices when not in use, 🥗 reduce food waste and eat more plant-based meals, and ♻️ repair and reuse items instead of replacing them.

While individual actions alone won't solve environmental challenges, they help reduce emissions, save resources, and inspire others to act. Together, millions of small choices can create meaningful change.

🌍 EU Green Week 2026 brings together policymakers, researchers, organisations, and citizens to discuss Europe’s path towards a more sustainable future. This year’s focus highlights the importance of investing in a nature-positive and climate-resilient economy.

The event will take place on 3-4 June 2026 in Brussels, and although in-person registration is now closed, sessions remain available online for participants across Europe.

At ABCinEnergy, we strongly connect with the message behind EU Green Week: sustainability is not only about policies and technologies, but also about everyday behaviour change. Small daily choices can collectively contribute to a more sustainable and energy-conscious future.
