What a weekend! 🎮 PAX Aus: completed ✅ Vampire: hopefully defeated ✅ Torch: status questionable 🔥 JMC Game Design alumni James Berkelmans brought Pitchfork to PAX Rising, challenging players to brave the dark, dodge traps and find out who they can really trust 👀 A huge shoutout to the Pitchfork team, and to everyone who stopped by for a game over the weekend. From anime reference to photoreal ex*****on 🤯

After completing her studies at JMC Academy Sydney, Sasha Urqueza challenged herself to take the 3D Animation skills she developed in Maya and translate them into Blender.

The result? Almost 60 hours of sculpting, retopology, texturing, rendering and plenty of tiny details, transforming Mydeimos from Honkai: Star Rail into a production-ready stylised realist character.

As if that isn't cool enough, Sasha has broken down the entire process for The Rookies, from the first blockout through to the final render.

JMC Game Design alumnus James Berkelmans is bringing PITCHFORK to PAX 2026, a co-op dungeon crawler built around darkness, teamwork, improvisation and the occasional questionable decision involving your friends. 💫

We caught up with James to talk about where PITCHFORK came from, why no mechanic is safe from the chopping block, how his team tests whether the game is actually working, and the journey from studying Game Design at JMC to creating games of his own.
