Meet Kei Khosasih, one of our wonderfully talented JMC Animation alumni who's worked on shows for Netflix, Dreamworks and Disney, and the illustrator behind keiiiarts on Instagram 🎨
For Kei, being q***r and non-binary isn't separate from their art, it's baked into it. "I feel like there's always something q***r about everything I make," they told us, and it shows across their personal projects, which feature q***r people and stories ✍️
For Kei, creating means a whole lot more than just a career. "I didn't grow up in a country that's safe to be visibly q***r, so art has always been that space for me to understand myself," they shared. Now, they get to bring that same comfort to others through their work, choosing to tell "stories of q***r joy and hope" rather than focusing on struggle alone.
Kei draws inspiration from a huge range of places, from Heartstopper and Nimona to Southeast Asian q***r creators like Pandesaii and Kai Mata, who they say make them "feel like I can be loud too." Looking ahead, Kei wants to keep building q***r representation. "I hope to continue making a space for people to feel seen and heard," they said 🫶
We love getting to spotlight the incredible work our alumni go on to do, and Kei is no exception 🙌
