Supporting Women In Science

Supporting Women In Science A University based society aimed at supporting and celebrate women in science and to promote gender equality in STEM fields.

The SWIS society was established in mid 2015 to promote gender equality in science and provide a support system for postgraduate female researchers in the STEM pipeline. Our mission is to celebrate and support women in science. We are currently based at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. We plan to focus our efforts on:

How science is perceived and the perception that science is a male do

minated field

The isolation that can be felt by young female researchers working in male dominated STEM areas

The difficulty parents can encounter balancing careers with family commitments

Your ideas about how to improve gender equality
