Super interesting scar tissue in the hindlimb of this gelding!
Unsure of the exact cause of the extensive scarring (suspecting was caught in a fence or on a walker at some point), however we can see that the lump is very mobile.
At first glance it appears as if it may be bony, however it is easily manoeuvrable under hand suggesting that it is a massive amount of scar tissue under the skin.
Obviously, the only way to know is x-rays and ultrasound to determine the exact makeup of this lump.
Currently this horse has full range of motion in the fetlock and is sound (today was an initial post-purchase check over for any concerns, which fortunately there weren’t any of) so while it is an interesting finding it is not currently considered clinically relevant 🐴
