Explore the hidden micro world through hands-on workshops at the Museum of the Goldfields.

𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴!

The countdown is on, only 2 more days until Curtin University Kalgoorlie will be pulling into town for Coolgardie Day in full force, so bring your loved ones, and come and meet us at our stall!

Curtin University’s KICK and STEM Outreach are teaming up for a fun Sunday, where you’ll get to enjoy a hands-on experience using a research-grade Scanning Electron Microscope to explore everyday objects at 10,000x magnification like you’ve never seen them before!

And the best part? When you complete the STEM experience, you will get another stamp in your KICK logbook!

You’re invited to an evening celebrating creativity, community and our talented young artists from CAPS Kurrawang Primary School!

Browse a wonderful collection of student artwork and handmade creations, with the opportunity to take home something special while supporting Dandelions WA.

There’ll also be a silent auction featuring two original pieces — one created by a Year 6 student and another by a staff member.

All artwork will be available to purchase on the night, please note, we are unable to place items on hold.

𝐀𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞, 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦, 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝.

Light as Voice brings together creative works developed through Science Meets Art: Cameraless Photovoice, where science, art and experimentation come together through camera-free photographic processes.

Using light, chemistry, plant matter, time and touch, students explored scientific ideas through making, testing, observing and experimenting, turning materials into tools for inquiry and creative expression.

And while this exhibition showcases work from across the program, we are proud to have seen this kind of innovative learning happening right here in Kalgoorlie too.

It’s a powerful reminder that education doesn’t have to look one particular way. Whether students are on campus, online, or learning in more unexpected settings, curiosity, creativity and meaningful learning can happen anywhere.

This weekend, the 𝐄𝐆𝐂 𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, travelled to Perth to compete in the WA Robotics Playoffs.

Over the last 6 month, 20 Eastern Goldfields College students, coached by Callum Sullivan from Curtin STEM Outreach, Dr Andrew Zint from GUDRH, and Stephen Liddle from EGC, and sponsored by the DPIRD have spent their Wednesday afternoons designing, building, and programming a competition ready robot! Last Thursday they took the robot to Perth and competed in WARP, a massive 3-day interschool robotics competition held at Curtin Bentley. The team placed 20/27 and qualified for the second stage of the competition, a fantastic result for their first year. It was amazing seeing their hard work pay off.

Cheers for Volunteers! 💙🙌

What a fantastic way to celebrate the people who give their time and energy to make a difference in our community!

Our Cheers for Volunteers event brought together Curtin Volunteers, students and community partners to recognise and celebrate the amazing contribution of our volunteers. 🌟

A huge thank you to all our community partners for continuing to provide meaningful opportunities for our students to get involved, connect with the community and make a positive impact.

And, of course, a very special thank you to all our Curtin Volunteers! 🧡 Your time, enthusiasm and commitment are what make these activities possible. It was great to celebrate your contributions and see some well-deserved certificates of appreciation being presented. 👏🏆
