So, 2024, a new year! With new adventures!
New adventures do sometimes mean leaving old things behind, and it has come to that cross roads for me.
Some of you may know that over the last few years I have been studying photography at university, and I graduated last May. A surprise turn of events led me to working for the same uni casually only a few weeks after finishing. I also started my photography business, Luminous Family Photography, and then welcomed my beautiful baby girl into the world last September.
Drawing near to the end of 2023 I realized something had to give. I was stretching myself too thin being a full time Mumma, wool craft artist, employee, and photographer. I had to ponder what I wanted life to look like moving forward and what I need to let go of in order to keep moving forward.
With much sadness, I have decided that Strength Honour Wares needs to retire so I can focus on being a present Mumma to my babies, whilst also building up my photography business.
I have loved the journey, the splashing of colour, the building of friendships, and spinning of yarns, and the creative outlet. One of the highlights was building amazing friendships that go beyond wool craft.
In order to wind down, I am looking at hosting a few workshops here in Brisbane so that I can pass on all the techniques I have perfected to others. These would be held in Brisbane QLD. I am looking at hosting a fibre dyeing workshop, a yarn dyeing workshop, and cellulose dyeing workshop, and a blending workshop. Please register your interest so that I know I have the participants to go ahead.
I will also be closing my Etsy store. It will take some time to clear the stock as I have 5kg still left to dye, plus a bunch already dyed, ready to upload. But if there is anything in there that captures your heart, do not wait, because it will likely be the last there is!
After all my dyeing and workshops, I will be selling off all my extra dyes and equipment. I will also have my Strauch electric Double Wide Fine carder for sale. (Please let me know if you are interested in it.)
Retiring Strength Honour Wares as a business does not mean that I am giving up wool craft. It just means the time I have to give to wool craft; I can spend on my own personal projects rather than working on the business.
I want to thank everyone who has supported and purchased from me over the years and to all my loyal customers, thank you. Your ongoing support has meant the world, and I look forward to crafting alongside you for many years to come.
Happy Crafting,
Sarah Iskandar
