October is Indigenous Business Month πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

This month, we celebrate the strength, innovation, and contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Australia.

Indigenous businesses create jobs, strengthen local economies, preserve culture, and drive positive social change within communities. By choosing to support Indigenous-owned businesses, we help create opportunities for economic participation, self-determination, and long-term community prosperity.

At Five Bridges Alliance, we recognise the important role Indigenous entrepreneurs and business leaders play in shaping a stronger, more inclusive future. Throughout Indigenous Business Month, we encourage our communities, partners, and stakeholders to discover, support, and celebrate Indigenous businesses making a difference every day.

Honouring Indigenous Rights, Voices and Self-Determination.

Today we acknowledge the anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), a significant international framework that recognises and affirms the rights of Indigenous peoples around the world.

This day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of protecting Indigenous cultures, languages, identities, and connections to Country, while supporting the right of Indigenous peoples to participate in decisions that affect their communities and futures.

At Peak College, we recognise the strength, knowledge, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and remain committed to fostering inclusion, respect, and opportunities that empower individuals and communities.

As we mark this important anniversary, let us continue listening, learning, and working together towards reconciliation.

πŸ’› R U OK? A conversation could change a life. πŸ’›

On R U OK? Day, we're reminded of the importance of checking in with the people around us.

Life can be challenging, and sometimes a simple question can make all the difference. Taking the time to genuinely ask "Are you OK?", listen without judgement, and stay connected can help someone feel supported when they need it most.

At Peak College, we believe strong communities are built through connection, compassion, and looking out for one another. Whether it's a friend, family member, colleague, or neighbour, don't underestimate the power of reaching out.

πŸ’› Ask the question.
πŸ’› Listen with an open mind.
πŸ’› Encourage action.
πŸ’› Check in again.

This R U OK? Day, let's help create a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

πŸ“šπŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ Indigenous Literacy Day

Today we acknowledge Indigenous Literacy Day and raise awareness about the importance of literacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in remote communities across Australia. Today highlights the role that access to books, education, storytelling, language and culture plays in creating opportunities and strengthening communities.

Indigenous Literacy Day is also a celebration of the rich cultures, languages and stories of First Nations peoples. It recognises that literacy extends beyond reading and writing, encompassing the sharing of knowledge, traditions and cultural identity from one generation to the next.

This year's theme,"Country Is Our Teacher," acknowledges the important lessons that Country, culture, Elders, family and community provide, reminding us that learning happens in many ways and places.

At Peak College, we believe that education and lifelong learning create pathways to greater opportunities, stronger connections and more inclusive communities. Today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn about Indigenous Literacy Day, listen to First Nations voices, and celebrate the stories and languages that continue to shape Australia's cultural identity.
