Academic Skills offers two types of free bookable 1-1 services: in-person and online.
As we come into the end-of-semester period, book 30-minute 1-1 sessions (1hr for PhDs) with an Academic Skills Adviser for any aspect of your academic work you’d like advice on.

New and current students can now choose whether their given (legal) name or preferred name appears on their student card when placing a card order. This forms part of the University's ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for our students.

Students who have a student card with their preferred name can have their identity verified using this card as a form of ID for exam and security identification.

Students seeking a student card with their preferred name for gender affirmation reasons, as well as First Nations students seeking a cultural name, are eligible for a fee waiver. Students can contact Stop 1 to request a fee waiver.

Become a Lifeline crisis supporter with training, mentoring and guidance provided by Lifeline centres. Lifeline have a limited amount of fee-free places to do Lifeline's full accredited crisis supporter training for voice. The first stage of training (5 weeks) is all online and then learners go to their local centre for placement and internship. Applications now open for the Health Student Placement Travel Grant!
The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is supporting students who undertake placement requirements with the costs of travelling for placement. You are eligible for this grant if you are undertaking a Health Placement and required to travel more than 50km from your usual place of residence to attend placement.

There are a limited number of $50 grants available to eligible MDHS students.
Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that submission does not guarantee a grant.

We have been seeing an increase in bags and laptops left unattended in the Alan Gilbert Building. This is a reminder that theft regularly occurs in this building, and around the University, and it is never safe to have your belongings out of your reach.

If your belongings are stolen, please contact security immediately. Have the Safezone App on hand to help them find your location. Safezone - more info can be found at the link in our bio.
