We’re evolving — new branding, same mission

We’re excited to share that the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation is now operating under the new name 'Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation', aligning with a unified Masterbrand approach across Deakin University.

This change reflects more than a new look — it's a step toward greater clarity, cohesion and collaboration. By bringing all our entities under one brand, we’re making it easier for our partners, stakeholders and communities to engage with us and understand the full impact of our research.

Our research focus, values, and people remain the same — now with a clearer, stronger voice and identity.

We’re proud of the work that we do and excited for what’s ahead as the Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation. Thank you for continuing the journey with us.

Meet our researchers at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation 👋

Dr Billy Griffiths is a Senior DECRA Research Fellow at ADI and a historian whose work invites Australians to reimagine their relationship with the sea, its stories and its deep past.

Discover how his project Shadow Continent is revealing the submerged histories of Sahul - landscapes once above sea level, now hidden beneath the sea.

Through collaboration with archaeologists, geologists and Indigenous communities, Billy is reshaping how we understand migration, climate change and cultural resilience across tens of thousands of years.
