The One Basin CRC and our Griffith Hub have been featured in Griffith’s The Area News, shining a spotlight on how the CRC is working with the local community to tackle some of the big challenges facing the Murray–Darling Basin — from water and climate to agriculture and local resilience.

Based in the Riverina and hosted by Murrumbidgee Irrigation Limited, the Hub brings together local communities, government and researchers to co-design solutions that make a difference to the community, industry, and environment alike.

A great article on a local community's commitment to the Bottle Bend Nature Reserve near Mildura.

Our partners OzFish Unlimited and the Mallee Catchment Authority (CMA) have been working with community and government to restore the reserve after the millennium drought devastated native fish populations and flora.

Bottle Bend Reserve now boasts threatened black box trees, golden perch, curlew sandpiper and the southern bell frog, thanks to the delivery of environmental water, tree planting days, and rubbish collection working bees.

's Braeden Lampard says, "The partnership between the volunteers, the fishers, the First Nation groups and the environmental groups is a really good example of the power of community partnership and what can be achieved when everyone has a really good passion for a local reserve".

Drew Fincher remembers when there was little life to be found at Bottle Bend Reserve on the Murray River. Today, the river bend is home to an array of plant and animal life thanks to the passion of volunteers.
