Whether you want to uncover career possibilities, crack the trivia case, or simply relax with friends after a busy semester, this evening is your chance to close the academic year in style.

🕵️‍♂️ The Case File:

Career Clues: A welcoming session with industry leaders sharing insights into linguistics-related careers, pathways, and possibilities beyond the classroom 💡

The Trivia Files: Detective-themed trivia with playful rounds for everyone, from first-year students to seasoned linguists ⁉️

The Catered Case: Generous food by our caterer to keep everyone fuelled while the investigation unfolds 😋

The Social Alibi: A warm, relaxed space to mingle, unwind, and enjoy the company

Expect clues, conversation, prizes, food, and just enough mystery to keep everyone suspiciously entertained.

Communication is about way more than just the words we pick. 🏺💬

It is often thought as just the words we speak, but we actually convey meaning through the things we carry, the symbols we share, and the places we live in.

We have a panel of Monash scholars coming in to discuss how material culture and social semiotics shape our world. They will be exploring how we use "things" to signal identity and how pragmatics, the study of context helps us understand each other across different communities.

Join us for AI and Meaning-Making with Dr Ward Peeters, Dr Jim Hlavac, and a special guest from MCRI on Wednesday, 6 May, at 4:00 pm in LTB 3.93.
