For the very first time, Sharadiya Durga Puja is coming to the University of Newcastle, and behind this beautiful milestone is the passion, dedication, and hard work of our Hindu student community. 🥹❤️

From planning every little detail to seeing our posters go up across the university and around Newcastle, watching this dream slowly become a reality has been nothing short of special. What started with an idea is now bringing people together through faith, culture, tradition, and the spirit of community.

This milestone is made possible through the collaboration of BSANU, ISANU, and UNSA, working together to create something truly meaningful for our students and the wider Newcastle community. 🌺

Our Hindu students have been absolutely BUZZING with excitement, pouring their hearts into making this celebration happen. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and love for their traditions deserve to be celebrated just as much as the occasion itself. ❤️

Our students are so excited for this year’s Durga Puja in Newcastle. They are working super hard making everything possible.
We have little update on the location
We have been moved to Mclarty room and the Nook as the capacity of the room is bigger.

We mourn the tragic death of Bangladeshi student in Perth. Our deepest condolences to her family, friends and loved ones. We also pray for the injured students speedy recovery.

📢 COMING SOON | Immigration Information Seminar

For the first time at the University of Newcastle, BSANU is working on bringing an Immigration Information Seminar specially for international students. 🇧🇩🌏

I am currently working on organizing this seminar with Parish Patience Immigration Lawyers who will provide important information about recent Australian immigration changes, visa updates, and what these changes may mean for international students.

✨ All international students are welcome, regardless of nationality.

First ever Sharodiya Durga Puja in Newcastle 2026

The BSANU family warmly invites all Hindu students and wider community to celebrate Durga Puja, Culture and togetherness.

First time in Newcaslte :

📍 Brennan Room, Shortland Campus, Callaghan.
📅 Saturday, 24th October 2026.
⏱️ 2pm to 8pm

Puja and Pushpanjali from 2:30pm followed by cultural programs and evening Aarti and Dhunuchi Naach.
Registration is essential and limited to the first 100 participants.
Register via the QR code on the poster. Screenshot your ticket and show at the registration booth.
Everyone is welcome - come and celebrate together.

BSANU Graduate Recognition Ceremony 2026 🇧🇩🎓

BSANU is proud to bring back the Graduate Recognition Ceremony 2026, celebrating Bangladeshi students at the University of Newcastle.

We’ll be recognising those completing their PhD, Postgraduate, and Undergraduate degrees. If you’re finishing your degree in 2026, this celebration is for you.

Nominations are now open—nominate yourself or a friend by letting us know your name, degree program, and expected completion date.

To be recognised, you must be a current BSANU member with up-to-date membership for 2026. Your hard work deserves to be recognised.

A voice for migrants.
A voice for international students.
A voice that refuses to be ignored.
Today, I had the opportunity to speak alongside Senator Mehreen Faruqi and Lucinda Miller, Greens candidate for Newcastle 2027, about migration, racism, and the lived experiences of people who come here from elsewhere.
I spoke not just as an advocate, but as someone who has lived the migrant experience firsthand. And I spoke about international students, who contribute so much, yet too often their voices are overlooked, their experiences dismissed, and their presence treated like something to be used for political talking points rather than respected.
Our voices matter. Our experiences matter. And we deserve to be heard.
