Thanks to the Cape Town crew for showing me how fresh fruit and vegetables can be grown in the middle of a bustling city and be used to close the food security gap.

Company’s Garden is 15 acres in the heart of Cape Town. The gardens began in 1652 as a practical food and medicinal garden for the Dutch East India Company's refreshment station, a working patch intended to keep passing ships stocked with fresh produce. A fabulous initiative in Glossop where the Ngamrapku Cafe forms part of the Kawunwampu Cultural Centre & is surrounded by a cultural garden and native plants cared for by the corporation's rangers. While Indigenous people reap little reward from Australia's native food industry, a regional Indigenous cafe is taking ownership of their traditions and passing on the knowledge to younger generations.

We found that almost 1 in 3 homes in very remote WA communities had no food stored in their fridge, freezer or pantry. That means NO food in that home for the family. Data from the healthy kitchen audits also identified that 20% of homes did not have a fridge or freezer.
