A pawfect day of learning, empathy and connection. ๐Ÿพ

Our members and their families recently enjoyed a meaningful visit to the Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dogs Services (HKSEDS) Training School, hosted by our Young Leaders Committee and Women in Leadership Committee of the Greater China Division.

Through educational talks, a blindfolded navigation experience and hands-on interactions with seeing eye dogs, participants gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by people with visual impairments and the life-changing impact these remarkable dogs make every day. It was also a great opportunity to meet the incredible seeing eye dogs and witness firsthand the difference they make in empowering independence and inclusion.

A big thank you to HKSEDS and everyone who joined us in supporting a worthy cause while creating lasting memories. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ

CPA Australia has launched two new reports in Jakarta in collaboration with Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), United In Diversity (UID) Foundation and Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia (IAI), bringing together perspectives from regulators, business leaders and the profession on key issues shaping Indonesiaโ€™s future growth.

Together, the reports explore how stronger governance, resilience and leadership can help organisations navigate technological disruption, economic uncertainty and evolving stakeholder expectations.

โฌœ Cybersecurity and Governance for Digital Finance Assets and Transactions, developed by CPA Australia, OJK and UID Foundation, examines priorities for strengthening governance and cybersecurity across Indonesiaโ€™s rapidly evolving digital assets ecosystem. It draws on insights from a multi-stakeholder dialogue involving representatives from government, financial services, technology and the profession.

โฌœ Building Resilient Businesses Through Finance Leadership, developed through the Indonesia-Australia Executive Business & Finance Dialogue 2026 convened by CPA Australia and IAI, explores how organisations can strengthen resilience, leadership capability and trust amid geopolitical uncertainty, technological disruption and changing workforce expectations. The report highlights resilience as an increasingly important source of competitive advantage as organisations respond to changing trade relationships, economic uncertainty and emerging technologies.

Speaking at the launches, CPA Australia CEO Chris Freeland highlighted the importance of trust, resilience and strong governance in supporting sustainable growth and helping organisations adapt to change.

Through collaboration with OJK, UID Foundation and IAI, CPA Australia continues to contribute practical insights and facilitate meaningful conversations between business, government and the accounting profession.

Over the past two weeks, we brought together business leaders, finance professionals and entrepreneurs to explore some of the biggest opportunities and challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprises today.

At Empowering SMEs & Entrepreneurs: Opportunities & Networking, attendees explored how SMEs can leverage AI, upskill their workforce and accelerate digital transformation. We were also pleased to announce a name change during the event: our SME Committee is now the SME & Entrepreneurship Committee, to reflect our continued commitment to supporting the evolving member needs across the region.

The conversation featured insights from Ms Karen Fung, Chief Marketing Officer & General Manager, InnoPreneur and FutureSkills, Hong Kong Productivity Council, and was moderated by Mr Janssen Chan FCPA (Aust.), Founder and Managing Director, Anssen Consulting Limited and Chair of the SME & Entrepreneurship Committee โ€“ Greater China, CPA Australia.

The discussion continued at SME Finance 360: Local Capital Funding to Global Cash Flow, where Mr Edmond Chung, Director, Central District, Business Banking, Commercial Banking, HSBC; Mr Andy Li, General Manager, Corporate Banking, Fusion Bank; and Mr Nick Chiu, Head of SME & Growth, Airwallex, shared insights on business growth, financing solutions, cash flow management and cross-border payments. Malaysia Budget 2027 sends a clear message: Malaysia is investing in its future.

Beyond addressing immediate cost-of-living concerns, Budget 2027 sets out a broader vision centred on productivity, skills development, innovation and sustainable economic growth. The budget includes enhanced tax relief for individuals, increased support for households, tax reductions for MSMEs, expanded financing access, and significant investments in AI, digitalisation and talent development.

What stands out is the strong emphasis on building future-ready capabilities. From support for AI adoption among businesses and AI-related tax reliefs to investments in workforce development and research and innovation, the measures recognise that technology and skills will be key drivers of Malaysia's competitiveness in the years ahead.

Many of these initiatives are aligned with recommendations put forward in CPA Australiaโ€™s 2027 Pre-Budget Submission, including:
- support for productivity-enhancing investments,
- digital transformation, workforce capability,
- access to finance, and
- targeted household assistance.

CPA Australia welcomes the budget's focus on boosting productivity, strengthening resilience and accelerating digital adoption to support long-term economic growth.
