Griffith Paramedic Society - GPS This is the official Paramedic society of Griffith University. The main objective of the society is to improve cohesive learning.

The Griffith Paramedic Society aims to provide both social and educational opportunities to members of the society; enhancing the learning of our future paramedics graduating from Griffith University. We have a number of special guest speakers lined up coming to share their expertise in various fields and on various age groups including neonates, paediatric and adolescents 👶👧🧒

What is your provisional diagnosis? 🤨

This diagnosis is: Wellen’s Syndrome!

When the patient is actively experiencing pain, their artery is fully occluded. But when the pain stops, the vessel has transiently re-perfused (the clot partially breaks down).

ECG criteria of Wellen’s syndrome: V2-V3 has a biphasic T wave or deeply inverted symmetrical T waves.

Common traps: the patient is typically completely pain-free when this pattern appears

Why is this important: this pattern indicates an imminent, critical stenosis of the Proximal Left Anterior Descending artery. If missed, 75% of these patients go on to suffer a massive, life-threatening anterior STEMI within days. This is also a key example as to why all patients with chest pain require serial ECGs.

Attention GPS members! With collaboration with , you are eligible for a member discount! Valued at $750, obtain your licence for $595. As a part of your application for many jurisdictional ambulance services, it is a requirement to possess a light-rigid and manual licence. are able to provide a medium-rigid licence (a free upgrade at a discounted price!!).

To obtain the discount, please contact us via email or Instagram to obtain the discount code. Note, you must be a GPS member to access this extremely generous discount. Then, get in contact with and convey the reference code provided when making an inquiry.

Below are the steps for booking:

1. Confirm that you currently hold an automatic or manual car licence.

2. Check Channan’s availability from , for your preferred date and time of your driving test. This can be done via their website, email, or phone number (which may be find on their website - https://empiredrivingschool.com.au)

3. Book your Medium-Rigid test for Gold Coast, Logan, or Ipswich via the link below. Don’t be alarmed by this being medium-rigid, it grants you an even better qualification!

4. Prepare for the heavy-vehicle knowledge test. Practice this after booking with Channan and . Once confident, ace the test at your local transport department, before, after, or on the day of your medium-rigid licence test!

5. Test day and driving test. Practice driving for 2 hours prior to your driving test, where Channan will teach you everything you need to know to pass the test. Arrive at the test centre, complete necessary paperwork, and begin your 50 minute exam in the ’s automatic truck.

6. Receive your MR license, allowing you to drive both LR and MR vehicles.
