Connecting ideas, industry, and opportunity.

A day of collaboration between Asian University for Women, HSBC AUW MS School of Apparel & Fashion Business Management, and BGMEA—bringing together industry leaders, educators, and students to strengthen recruitment, industry placement, and talent development for the future workforce.
On 27 June 2026, the Asian University for Women (AUW) had "Industry Connect: Collaboration for Industry Placement, Recruitment and Talent Development Initiative" at the BGMEA Complex, Uttara, Dhaka — graciously hosted by BGMEA. Bringing together distinguished leaders from Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment sector, the evening was a landmark moment for AUW and its students.
The programme opened with remarks from BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, followed by addresses from Dr. Rubana Huq, Interim Vice Chancellor of AUW, and representatives from HSBC Bangladesh. Industry leaders, CEOs, Managing Directors, and senior executives from some of Bangladesh's most prominent RMG companies — including Urmi Group, Centro Tex, Pacific Jeans, Mohammadi Group, Ha-Meem Group, YoungOne, Shanta Dewhirst, Mars Apparels, Fakir Apparels, Square Group, Hirdaramani Bangladesh, Inditex Bangladesh, and many more — came together under one roof for a candid dialogue about the future of women's leadership in the sector.
A special highlight of the evening was the HSBC-AUW School of Apparel (HASA) and its MS Apparel students, who presented directly to the industry — sharing their stories, their ambitions, and their readiness to step into the roles this industry needs them to fill. Their confidence, poise, and passion left a mark on everyone in the room. The event also featured a presentation by Dr. Ahmedul Kabir, Program Director of HASA, followed by a vibrant networking session that brought students face to face with the leaders who will shape their careers.
The evening closed with the gifting of a beautiful painting — a portrait of a woman garment worker — presented to our distinguished guests as a quiet but powerful reminder of who this programme was built for, and why it matters.
This evening was not just an event. It was a commitment — from industry to education, and from education back to industry — that the women of Bangladesh's garment sector deserve every opportunity to lead it.
Thank you to every guest, partner, student, and colleague who made this evening possible.
