The CIUAI Center has officially begun its journey through a vibrant inauguration ceremony at Chittagong Independent University (CIU), opening new possibilities in research, innovation, and technology education. The inauguration event was held today, (7th May 2026), at the university conference room. The chief guest, joining virtually, was Dr. Zunaid Kazi, Founding Council Member of MillionX Bangladesh and Founder & CEO of Knowtomation.
The special guest at the event was Professor Dr. Mohammad Moshiul Hoque from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). Joining virtually as an Guest of Honor was Mr. Munir Hasan, Founding Council Member of MillionX Bangladesh and President of BdOSN.
The speakers stated, โIn todayโs world, AI is not merely a technology; it is one of the key driving forces behind transformation in the economy, education, healthcare, and industry. The CIU AI Center will serve as an important platform for students to develop innovative thinking, research capabilities, and practical skills.โ
The program was hosted by CIU Assistant Registrar Rooma Dass. The welcome speech was delivered by Professor Dr. Aseef Iqbal, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering. During the event, a presentation highlighting the various plans, research activities, and future goals of the CIU AI Center was delivered by the Centerโs Director and Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Md Sajjatul Islam.
The event was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. MM Nurul Absar. In his presidential speech, he said, โCIU is committed to equipping students with modern and relevant skills in line with global technological transformation. We are optimistic that the CIU AI Center will become a hub for future technology research and innovation.โ
Deans of various faculties, department heads, faculty members, and university officials were also present at the program.
It is noteworthy that through the CIU AI Center, students will have opportunities to engage in research and practical training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Data Science, Robotics, and Automation. In addition, the center will play a significant role in developing skilled human resources for the technology sector through national and international research collaborations, workshops, seminars, and industry connectivity.
