The Department of Economics, IUBAT, successfully organized the Grand Finale of EconPitch 2026 – 5-Minute Economics Presentation Competition on 25 August 2026 at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT).

Organized by the IUBAT Economics Research Society (IERS), the competition provided an inspiring platform for students to showcase their research, analytical thinking, creativity, and presentation skills while addressing contemporary economic issues.

The program was honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor, IUBAT, as the Chief Guest, and Professor Dr. Golam Rasul, Chairman, Department of Economics, IUBAT, as the Special Guest. The event was also graced by Professor Dr. Md. Momtazur Rahman, Registrar, IUBAT, Dr. Sajal Saha, Professor and Director, Miyan Research Institute, respected faculty members, guests, and members of the IUBAT community.

IUBAT and the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 30 August 2026, marking a significant step toward strengthening collaboration and creating new opportunities for academic, professional, and industry engagement.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor; Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer & Director, Administration; Prof. Dr. Md. Momtazur Rahman, Registrar; Brig. Gen. Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain (Retd.), Controller of Examinations; AKM Sharfuddin, Director, Placement & Alumni Office; Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam, Associate Professor & CSE Coordinator; Shahinur Alam, Associate Professor & CSE Coordinator; and Dr. Md. Abdul Awal, Associate Professor of CSE; and Dr. Md. Shafenoor Amin, Assistant Professor of CSE, representing IUBAT.

Representing BdREN were Mr. Mohammad Tawrit, CEO; Mr. Ekhlas Uddin Ahmed, CMO; Mr. Biplab Chandra Mahanta, Manager (HR & Admin); and Mr. Md. Imranur Rahman, Assistant Manager (Business Development).

The collaboration is expected to foster stronger university–industry linkages, enhance academic and professional engagement, and expand opportunities for students.
