BGMEA Institute of Fashion and Technology (BIFT) is a prime institute of Bangladesh aimed to produce technically competent human resources for the RMG sector of the country. g 1- year diploma course in Apparel Merchandising, Apparel Manufacturing & Technology, Fashion Design & Technology, six months certificate courses o Merchandising and short courses relevant to the need of the RMG sector. More over it is also organizing MBA in Apparel Merchandising, B.Sc. Honors in Knitwear Manufacture & Technology & 1- year Diploma in Knitwear Manufacture & Technology, 6 months diploma in Apparel Engineering and Production Planning. Honors Courses are governed by the rules and regulations of BIFT approved by the academic council of the National University. BIFT is situated in a prime location of Uttara Model Town of Dhaka Metropolitan City, having a good communication network with all areas of Bangladesh. It occupies about 50,000 sft of floor space of classrooms, laboratory, library, faculty rooms, auditorium, students' common room, and office. The laboratories include computer lab, CAD lab, sewing lab, knit lab, textile testing lab, pattern lab, product development lab, etc. All labs are equipped with state of the art equipments. There are about more than 4000 books and journals in BIFT library, Students have the Broadband Internet facilities free of cost. All classroom, library, laboratory, faculty rooms, office, auditorium are fully air conditioned and classrooms are fitted with overhead projectors, multimedia and other teaching aids. BIFT has also rented another building for campus-2 in Azampur where regular classes are being taken occupies approximately 8000 sft because of the huge demand of the students for studying in BIFT. Beside formal academic activities BIFT students regularly participates in different extra-curricular activities; such as sports, cultural program and co-curricular activities. BIFT students organize regular fashion shows with their created dresses and act as model in the fashion shows, actively participates in the BATEXPO and contributes BATEXPO fashion shows by providing self-designed dress for the models. BIFT faculties and students are also contributing BATEXPO fashion show management in every year. Considering the future demand, BIFT is planning for academic and infrastructural expansion. As part of the academic expansion we are also planning to organize 4 years B.Sc. Honors course the Textile Technology. Diploma in Leather Design, Certificate in Fashion Photography and Fashion Modeling Course in near future. BIFT in collaboration with many international organizations, such as, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), European Union (EU), German Technical Co-operation (GTZ) , South Asia Enterprise Development fund (Sedf) is working for further growth and development. BIFT maintains high academic standard since its inception. It has a good market reputation. All of the BIFT graduates normally enter the job market before publication of their results.
