IUB FormulaE Wins FIRST PLACE at Innoverse Bangladesh 2025! 🇧🇩

It is a source of tremendous pride for the Department of EEE, IUB that IUB FormulaE, the Formula Student Electric Vehicle Team of the EEE Department has secured FIRST PLACE in the prestigious Shaheed Tanvin Innovation Award at Innoverse Bangladesh 2025, held on 14–15 November at BUET.

Organized by Whiteboard Initiatives and supported by the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh along with A2i, the festival brought together 2,200+ competitors and 45 top innovations from across the country. Among them, the IUB FormulaE project stood out as one of the top three innovations of the entire expo, showcasing exceptional technical merit and real-world impact. Distinguished guests at the event included ICT Division Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury and Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Mr. Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, which highlighted the essential role of youth-driven innovation in accelerating Bangladesh’s technological development.

This year’s event was powered by City Bank (title sponsor), with MH Group, Prime Bank, and Eastern Bank PLC as co-sponsors. More than 30,000 students were engaged during a week-long pre-event campaign, reflecting the nation’s rapidly growing interest in science, research, and engineering innovation.

Founded by Md Imtiaz Abedin (EEE Department alumnus & Team Lead) and supervised by Prof. Dr. Khosru Md Salim (Professor of the EEE Department), IUB FormulaE continues to position Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) as a rising force in Bangladesh’s electric vehicle research landscape.

The Department of EEE, IUB is pleased to share that a research team of our students has successfully converted a fuel-powered motorcycle into a fully electric bike while retaining the original design and appearance. The conventional engine has been replaced with a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor integrated through a gearbox system, and the fuel tank has been innovatively redesigned to accommodate the battery pack.

The bike features a lithium iron phosphate battery system that supports fast charging and can be conveniently charged anywhere using a standard 220V power supply. This eliminates the need for a dedicated charging station, making the design both efficient and user-friendly.

The project was led by EEE Department student Md. Mohiuddin Shuvo, who played the lead role in the design, development, and successful implementation of the prototype and aptly supported by his fellow team members Nafisa Amin, Mahmudul Hasan Rafin with Md. Imtiaz Abedin serving as a senior advisor of this project.

This project was conducted under the supervision Prof. Dr. Khosru Mohammad Salim (Professor of the Department of EEE, IUB) at the Green Energy Research Center - GERC, IUB, a research center of the EEE Department that is a pioneering hub for renewable energy research and innovation, focusing on solar energy, electric vehicles, and sustainable technologies.

This project is currently on display at BEVMX 2025 — Bangladesh’s most specialized Electric Vehicle & Mobility Exhibition being hosted at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) and organized by Savor International Limited.

An amazing start to the upcoming Spring 2026 semester — 200+ Aspirants, One Goal — Engineering the Future with IUB EEE!

The Department of EEE, IUB successfully conducted the orientation for student applicants of Slot 1, Spring 2026!

We are delighted to share that more than 200 applicants joined this session — a clear reflection of the growing interest in IUB’s vibrant EEE Department. Led by Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury (Head, Dept. of EEE), the event was a great success—thanks to the amazing teamwork of the volunteers of IEEE IUB Student Branch and it's related chapters and affinity group and our dedicated EEE Department student volunteers.
