The University Institute of International and European Studies (UNIES) was founded in 1995. In accordance with the requirements resulted from the reforms in the educational system, the university successfully has official Degree Awarding Powers awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science. nd new dental clinic and the affiliated University Hospital. To these add the Department of English Philology and the department for international Study Affairs which is represented by the University Institute of International and European Studies (UNIES). Gorgasali University’s Institute UNIES is located in the Netherlands. It is integral to the make-up of the University of Gorgasali. It has prestigious academic collaborations to which count, e.g., the Internationale Hochschule EurAka, Switzerland or the International Trade and Law Institute, South Korea. Degrees of the University Institute of International and European Studies (UNIES) are officially recognised in Europe and the University is registered with the European Commission. Particular recognition is confirmed by NARIC UK and Germany's regulating authority, the Ständige Konferenz der Kultusminister as equal to degrees of these countries universities. An increasing number of additional official recognition exists in Africa and Asia as well. The University organises students' and international research conferences. Students gain work practice at financial organizations, travel agencies and hotels, Tbilisi City Court, Notary Chamber of Georgia, European Centre for Professional Development, legal advice agencies, etc. The Rector of the University Prof Dr Mzia Katamadze is a member of the Club of Rectors of Europe. As result of these contacts the Gorgasali University has concluded business agreements and is actively involved in student exchange programs with prestigious universities of all over the world.
