Huge congratulations to Tashfia Hasan for winning the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 3rd One Health Youth Symposium in Bangladesh 2026!
Tasfia absolutely knocked it out of the park presenting her remarkable research: "Microbes to Molecules: A One Health Approach to Low-Cost Bioremediation of Tannery Waste".

Tannery waste is a massive environmental problem, and Tasfia’s innovative, eco-friendly approach shows exactly why youth-led research is vital for our future. This award recognizes not just her outstanding public speaking, but her deep dedication to impactful, real-world science.

The Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, UIU, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Thalassaemia Hospital, hosted an insightful seminar on thalassaemia, bringing together experts, students, and faculty for meaningful discussions on its challenges and future.
Our Head, Prof Rafiqul Islam, also shared valuable insights into gene therapy and the future prospects of thalassaemia treatment, highlighting the promise of modern biotechnology in transforming patient care.
