The Department of Civil Engineering, University of Information Technology & Sciences (UITS), is pleased to invite students, faculty members to a seminar on:

“Construction of Marine Drive with Sea Protection Wall at Cox’s Bazar”

This seminar will highlight the engineering significance of coastal infrastructure development, marine drive construction, and sea protection systems in Bangladesh. It will also provide valuable insights into the challenges, design considerations, and sustainable approaches related to protecting coastal areas from erosion, tidal action, and environmental risks.

The session will be conducted by Dr. M. Obaydullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, UITS, who has strong academic expertise in structural engineering. This seminar will be an excellent opportunity for students and professionals to enhance their understanding of real-world civil engineering applications and coastal development projects.

সড়ক পরিবহন ও সেতু মন্ত্রণালয়ের অধীন সড়ক পরিবহন ও মহাসড়ক বিভাগের আওতাধীন ঢাকা পরিবহন সমন্বয় কর্তৃপক্ষ (DTCA) কর্তৃক “বৃহত্তর ঢাকার পরিবহন ব্যবস্থার আধুনিকায়নে ডিটিসিএ’র পরিকল্পনা” শীর্ষক দিনব্যাপী একটি বিশেষ লার্নিং সেশন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এতে ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ইনফরমেশন টেকনোলজি অ্যান্ড সায়েন্সেস (UITS)-এর সিভিল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থীরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ডিটিসিএ’র নির্বাহী পরিচালক (অতিরিক্ত সচিব) ড. মো. মশিউর রহমান। তিনি তার উদ্বোধনী বক্তব্যে দেশের রেলওয়ে ও সমন্বিত পরিবহন ব্যবস্থার উন্নয়ন, নগর পরিকল্পনা এবং এই খাতে দক্ষ মানবসম্পদ গঠনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা তুলে ধরেন। পাশাপাশি তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশ্যে বলেন, বাংলাদেশের পরিবহন খাতে কাজ করার মাধ্যমে দেশের উন্নয়নে অবদান রাখার পাশাপাশি একটি শক্তিশালী ক্যারিয়ার গড়ার বিস্তৃত সুযোগ রয়েছে।

বিশেষ লার্নিং সেশনে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন ডিটিসিএ’র অতিরিক্ত নির্বাহী পরিচালক মোহাম্মদ রবিউল আলম, আরবান প্ল্যানার সৈয়দ মাহফুজ-উল-ইসলাম, ম্যাস ট্রানজিট ইঞ্জিনিয়ার (বিআরটি) মো. তুষার এবং সিনিয়র রোড সেফটি স্পেশালিস্ট মো. মামুনুর রহমান। তারা প্রত্যেকে তাদের বক্তব্যে ঢাকার পরিবহন ব্যবস্থার বর্তমান চ্যালেঞ্জ, উন্নয়ন পরিকল্পনা এবং টেকসই নগর পরিবহন ব্যবস্থায় ডিটিসিএ’র ভূমিকা নিয়ে বিশদ আলোচনা করেন।

বক্তারা ঢাকা মহানগরের দীর্ঘদিনের ট্রাফিক সমস্যা ও যানজটের কারণসমূহ বিশ্লেষণ করে এর সম্ভাব্য সমাধান, যেমন—সমন্বিত গণপরিবহন ব্যবস্থা, ট্রাফিক ব্যবস্থাপনার আধুনিকীকরণ, সড়ক নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিতকরণ এবং টেকসই নগর পরিকল্পনার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। একইসঙ্গে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য ডিটিসিএ’র বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পে ইন্টার্নশিপ ও সরাসরি সম্পৃক্ত হওয়ার সুযোগ সম্পর্কেও অবহিত করা হয়।

সেশনের শেষ পর্বে শিক্ষার্থীদের কাছে “তারা কেমন ঢাকা শহর চায়” এ বিষয়ে মতামত জানতে চাওয়া হয়। এ সময় UITS-এর শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের নিজস্ব পর্যবেক্ষণ থেকে ঢাকার পরিবহন সমস্যাগুলো চিহ্নিত করে বাস্তবসম্মত সমাধান প্রস্তাব করেন এবং ডিটিসিএ’র কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে তা নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। পরবর্তীতে তারা একটি লিখিত মতামতও জমা দেন, যা ডিটিসিএ কর্তৃপক্ষ গ্রহণ করে।

উল্লেখ্য, এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ শিক্ষার্থীদের বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন, পেশাগত দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন এবং দেশের পরিবহন খাতের উন্নয়নে ভবিষ্যৎ নেতৃত্ব গড়ে তুলতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে সংশ্লিষ্টরা মনে করেন।
