The Seminar, Training, and Skill Development Committee of the Department of Management successfully organized the 4th episode of the Management Research Colloquium on Monday, October 5, 2026.

The session featured A K M Mominul Haque Talukder, PhD, MBA, CPHR, SHRM-SCP, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Management, who presented his research titled “Unravelling the Relationship between Work and Family Conflict, Job and Life Attitude, and Locus of Control.” His presentation offered valuable insights into the dynamics of work-family conflict and its relationship with job and life attitudes, followed by an engaging Q&A session and scholarly discussion.

The colloquium was graciously attended by Prof Nasar U Ahmed, Pro-VC, NSU, and Prof. A.K.M. Atiqur Rahman, Dean, School of Business & Economics. The Pro-VC highlighted the ongoing and planned initiatives of NSU to promote and improve the work-life balance of the university community. The Dean, SBE, provided insightful observations on and critically examined the research methodology.

At the conclusion of the session, Ziaul Haq Adnan, PhD, Chair, Dept. of Management, expressed his appreciation to the Seminar, Training, and Skill Development Committee and all attendees for their contributions to the successful completion of the colloquium. He also expressed his hope that the department would continue to host similar scholarly discussions and research-focused events more frequently.

Bridging Classroom Learning with Industry Excellence!

On 04 October 2026, students of ‘MGT460.1: Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing’ organised by their instructor Dr. Ziaul Haq Adnan, Chair, Dept. of Management, NSU had the privilege of learning from Mr. Sadique Salim, a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and internationally acclaimed Operational Excellence Consultant.

Mr. Salim shared valuable industry insights, practical experiences, and real-life improvement projects demonstrating the application of the DMAIC (Define–Measure–Analyze–Improve–Control) methodology in driving operational excellence. The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect theory with real-world practice, understand how organizations approach complex improvement challenges, and explore the practical relevance of Six Sigma and Lean principles across industries. The discussion concluded with insightful career guidance, inspiring students to think strategically about building successful careers in the dynamic and increasingly competitive global market.

On 01 Oct 2026, Dr. Ziaul Haq Adnan, Assoc. Prof. & Chair, Dept. of Management, represented NSU on behalf of the Dean, SBE at a symposium on Business School Accreditation, hosted by the IQAC, IUB and attended by the Chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). Dr. Adnan shared NSU-SBE’s accreditation experience, highlighting the school’s initiatives to strengthen research and Assurance of Learning (AoL) practices. He also emphasized the potential for a recognition-based waiver by BAC for business schools already accredited by internationally recognized bodies such as AACSB and ACBSP.

Dr. Ziaul Haq Adnan, honorable Chair of the Department of Management, North South University (NSU), along with Professor M. A. Rashid, Ph.D., Senior Fellow at the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG), NSU, visited Chattogram Port today to facilitate an MOU signing focused on logistics research, supply chain internships, cybersecurity, policy, governance, and port efficiency.

The MOU aims to strengthen academia–industry collaboration and foster research, knowledge exchange, and practical engagement toward a smarter, more efficient, and secure future for Bangladesh.

The Department of Management successfully organized a seminar on "Use of Qualitative and Quantitative Factors for Selecting Delivery and Distribution Modes" on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

The session was conducted by Md. Salahuddin Ayuby, Senior Consultant, Cardinal Health, USA, who shared practical insights into data-driven decision-making in supply chain management. The seminar was attended by MBA and EMBA students specializing in Supply Chain Management, whose active participation made the event both engaging and successful.

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲

The Department of Management, North South University, was pleased to host a Media and Information Literacy Workshop on 11 July 2026 under the Youth-Focused Media and Information Literacy for an Informed Bangladesh initiative of the UN Electoral BALLOT Project.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Department of Information Studies, East West University, UNESCO Dhaka, and Media and Information Literacy Network Bangladesh (MILNetBD), bringing together 20 students from different academic disciplines for an engaging and interactive learning experience.

The session was facilitated by Faculty Fellow Quazi Tafsirul Islam, Senior Lecturer of Strategy and Human Resources at the School of Business and Economics, North South University.

We were honored to welcome Professor Dr. Dilara Begum, President of MILNetBD and Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies, East West University; Md. Hasinul Elahi, General Secretary of MILNetBD and Senior Lecturer at East West University; and Ashik Rayhan, Lecturer at East West University, as the distinguished resource persons for the workshop.

Through discussions, group activities, and practical exercises, participants developed a stronger understanding of media and information literacy, critical thinking, responsible information consumption, and informed decision-making in the digital age.

The Department of Management remains committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities that prepare students to become responsible, informed, and socially conscious future leaders.
